I want to buy one or the other.

What are the pros and cons of both?
Which one do you think will have a lot of people still playing for a long time?
Which one would you play over the other?
What is the point of each game?

well i just got started for FFXI i want to play WoW but i have so much money tied up in FFXI i can't do it just yet.

But with FFXI it is about economy, quests, and getting in party's with friends to go kill shit... Levling is a big deal in the game simply because you have to lvl to do some cool shit. the markets are nuts you can learn cooking, fishing, blacksmithing, goldsmithing, alchamey, and a few others i can't think of off the top of my head. Weapons and armor are just about endless in options once you get to higher lvls... there are several advanced jobs to learn later and expansions and updates happen often. its a hard call if you have the money and time buy both :D

Do you need to pay monthly fee to play Final Fantasy?

I'm pretty sure you do. Like 13 bucks a month or something.

how does the fighting take place in both? is it turn based, or active?

i am not sure in WoW but in ffxi it is kind of a mix ... you engage then the swings and spells are just based on your delay... and weapon stats... not so much player 1 atack... mob attack... the mob could hit you like 10 times before you swing... but it just depends on the stats of each... i'm probably not explaining it the best but its worth a shot... i know WoW is going to have PvP and I think the only thing FFXI has close to that is ballista

Fighting is active in WoW. Also, you can have (almost) unlimited characters throughout the servers.

www.gamespot.com has really in depth reviews on both

Haha, I would just read them when you get home then...they are both easily 4 pages long.

WoW got a 9.5
FFXI got an 8.2

Blizzard did their homework with WOW, I have palyed several MMO's and it blows away all of them. I can't speak from FFXI since I haven't played it, but the games sound similar...
what did they base the rating on?
That rating is the overall gaming experience given by the reviewer.

From the reviews by gamers:
WoW:
46% say the game is "perfect"
41% say the game is "superb"
7% say it is "abismal"

FFXI:
9% say the game is "perfect"
36% say the game is "superb"
none say it is "abismal"

have a friend playing WoW and he says it is the best mmorpg that he's played; and he's played them all.
