View Full Version : I would like to build a new computer
The only things I will use this for is internet, gaming, and word processor/spread sheets.
How much would it take to run the newest games with little or no slowdown? I would love to not have to upgrade too soon either. I don't think I'd be playing many online games. I don't really play any first person shooters, like HL2 or doom3, that's for Halo :D I like the strategy games and things like that (star craft, etc.) Tells you how old my computer is. That new Pirates! game looks pretty cool.
I'd need everything, monitor, keyboard, PC, all that.

Sounds to me like your current computer does everything that you need it to do.
Just wanting something new and improved? Watch the Sunday flyers, I bet Fry's and other stores will be running some great deals on complete tower systems. If you don't want to play any 1st person games, than any new pc should work.
Mine is a 466 celeron w/ some crap vid card and 4gb hard drive. lol

Sounds much like the pc that I was using until a week ago :D
I don't play any 1st person games either, so it did everything I needed it to do.

the problem with buying any comp already built is they are shit in most cases. ive had nothing but shitty luck from them. But when i built my own it works ten times better and ten times longer.
so buildin is the way to go. as for what u want/need it all depends on what games u plan on playing

dude all you need is like 600 bux and you can build a badass gaming computer get with Big_Boze, his setup is fucking badass, he can tell you anything you want to know about building a computer.
Let me know how much you want to spend and I will build one for you. I always build bang-for-the-buck computers so you'll get your moneys worth. I just did one Athlon64 system and I'm about to built another so the research is done and all I need to do is buy the parts and assemble it.

if youre going with pre built go with DELL. I did, and i've built several computers, only reason i went with it was because it was about $450 cheaper than a comparable build of my own. They had great discounts at the time.
