Just picked up Jose's bike and although I can ride it, it could be lowered some. Was wondering what it took to do this and anyone know how much it $. I'm anxious to get over my cold and get back out there riding.

All you need is a set of lowering links and a front strap. I lowered both of my bikes for less than $75 a piece.

yammis are different they take a big a$$ lowering link not side plates like kawi or suks. as for straps those are only good for drag racing. if you want the bike to handle the right way while in the twisties or back roads lower the front to match the rear. ie . 1" in the back 1" in the front.

Thanks for the info guys. It's a 2000 model (sig check). Don't have the $ right now so I have to ride it as is, but you guys have given me an idea of how much to expect.

I lowered my R6, front and rear (this included the strap) for 129.00. Yamaha's do take a bigger chunk of Aluminum that has brass bushings, there not typical Dog bones.

It's easy work, if you need some help just holler.

When I was thinking about buying a bike, I was going to have to lower it and I check on it and all in all, it was going to cost about $150 including labor. Good luck to ya!

Keith, I know Greg Fowler over at Garage Mahall said he would charge me $20 to lower it an inch in the front. Something about dropping the tubes through the tripple or something.

Always willing to help out a fellow rider. Rich is in the Arlington area and I am in the Rowlett area. There are plenty of people that will do it for free. Just give us a holler.

Just make sure if you try to do this yourself you measure it with some calipers, uneven forks will cause alot of head shake (Tank slap)

Thanks for the offers guys. Don't have the $ for the lowering link right now and the bike needs tuned up first. Guess I'll just tippy toe a little. :D

I never strap the front of my bikes, I use lowering links on the rear then just slide the front forks up the triple tree. only thing about doing this is to make sure that you lower them EQUALLY. Not hard at all. the hardest part is the link and that is only if your bike is a pain in the ass. mine wasnt. :)

That's the plan. I want to lower front and back. The link is something like $150 and I have too many other things to take care of first. Just ? how lowering it affects the handling.

less ground clearance, you can easily start grinding hard parts.

Can I expect that the kickstand, etc might drag? If so, what about just lowering the front?

Get me some of the those Daytons and get some 1 wheel motion. :)

Maybe I'll just get some prostetic (sp?) legs so I can reach the ground.

just lowering the front won't help too terribly much, but your steering will be VERY quick, more like riding a bicycle.

i had mine lowered, because i was trying to track down lowering links, but i raised it back up, because it was very twitchy.

I might just leave it alone. It's not that bad overall and might get used to after I've rode it a little. I'm just itching to get the bike and see how it compares to every thing that I've ever been on in the past. Is your bike still your daily? Didn't you used to have a Nissan 240sx? I think that I bought a shifter for my old 4 eye Stang from you when I lived in Dallas. I had a Saturn at the time if that helps.
