Safety Recall Info: CBR 1000RR - 600RR

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got some more safety recall info for those riding CBR 1000RR's and 600RR's. If you are the first owners of these motorcycles you should have been mailed this information, but here it is if you never happened to recieve it.

2004 CBR1000RR Speedo Recall

Due to a digital speedometer computer program error, inginition switch operation whlie depressing the SEL button for certain display modes may cause some speedo to show an inaccurate MPH or KPH reading. This inaccuracy results in the speedo indicating approximately 75% of the actual speed of the vehicle. This error can happen at any time and at any mileage and once an error occurs, it can not be reset. All affected speedo's will be replaced.

2003-2004 CBR 600RR Rear Brake Linkage

The rear brake linkage is susceptible to corrosion, which can cause binding and rough brake operation. In the worst case, the lingkage could break, reulting in a loss of rear brake function, which increases the likely hood of a crash. Affected units will have their linkages inspected and components replaced as required.

Everybody who owns these motorcycles, or know people who do, should have them call their local dealership to check whether or not their bikes are affected models. These are FOR LIFE safety recalls. It does not matter how old the bike is, whether or not you are the first owner, or if it's a clean or salvage title. Call your dealership with your VIN number to find out.
