Has anyone here ever done it?

I would love to have a on/off road bike like the KTM LC4 640 that I saw at the Yamaha dealer, but it was about 4700 and I'm looking to spend much less than that. It seems it would be cheaper just to add some lights, mirrors and some other legal requirements to a dirt bike.

If you wanted to spend 1000-2000 on an enduro what would you do?

It has to be 4 stroke, with lights mirrors and all that crap, and it has to have a title that is not for off road use only, you can do it for sure with Honda CRF450s and Yamaha YZ450F's

There were some bad ass 600 cc enduros back in the day. The ones you see on tv where they are flying thru the desert. It wasn't a mx bike at all, but almost like a heavy duty sv550. They were 4 stroke inline 4's. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

My dad has one of those in pieces in the garage. It's a honda not sure of the year or make, but it is an enduro. They were raced in baja races for many years. Pretty cool ass bike.

We sell the kits to make bikes street legal but I can't remember the price off hand. If I remember to, I will look it up on Monday and give you some details on what all is included.

I want a Yamaha, but the 450 is a little too much coin ($6,000+ (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/unitinfo/2/mcy/28/210/0/yamaha_wr450f.aspx)) compared to what I'm looking to spend, but it is really nice.

I was looking at the XT225, but wasn't really too impressed and thought it would be easier and cheaper just to get a 250 and a baja kit. I guess I'll keep looking into it.

Anyway, thanks for the info NayNay, Kevin.

Harley made a street legal dirtbike back in the 70s. Seen two of em, kinda cool, kinda not. Id pimp it drunk. Look at old stuff that was built to be street legal, thats cheap, if you look at newer bikes you get into alot of $$$ and dirtbikes dont really keep their value too well. I do love my 1983 Yamaha IT490 Enduro though...(490cc 2 stroke!)

In Texas, can the 2 stroke bikes be street legal if they are built before a certain year?
