Should have posted this sooner but I wanted to take the time to describe everything plus edit the pictures I took. I bought the slip on off of eBay from a guy on an R6 message board. As I stated earlier, I got it for $80 shipped which I thought was a good deal.

It was understood by me that it was rashed and I saw it on the pictures from his ad. What I didn't know was that the inside of the slip on is loose. I'm sure this isn't "the norm" on those things. It's hard to tell by this picture but the material on the inside is loose and dinged up bad so that it's not solidly mounted to the inside of the can. I'm new to all of this and I want to make sure before I bitch at this guy that I'm correct in thinking that this slip on is damaged more than what he described and I have every right to complain to him.

Here is what he had on his eBay ad.

You are bidding on a polished Two Brothers Racing exhaust slip-on. Will fit any 99-02 Yamaha R6. I laid the bike over a few months ago so it has light road rash on it, but you can probably get them buffed out. Other than that the pipe is clean. I've put about 4,600 miles on it. This is an awesome slip on, great sound and quality. Reduces overall Weight and Increases Horsepower!!! Happy Bidding.

I would appreciate any advice. I'm certain that I can contact Two Brothers and get some kind of rebuild kit (I read on a recent article on slip ons that you can remove the rivets and repack the slip on) but I don't know if it will be worth it. Thanks.

that is basically it ..the packin on the inside is screwed...not sure what a rebuild would cost..sure it is not much if u can do it local

edit: also pipes are going to add so little of HP u will not notice it unless u get headers as well

actually bro, from the looks of it the guy that used to own it had tried to tamper with the baffling. It shouldnt look like that at all should be smooth all the way through. You can take it apart by punching out the rivets and drilling them off. Just hope that if he took it apart before that he used aluminum rivets to put it back together and not steel. You can get it apart and bend the guts back straight and get the holes lined back up and rivet it back together. If the inside is loose like you said, its probably because he did have it apart trying to make it sound louder probably, and he didnt get the inside riveted to the cap with the shell. You can fix it pretty easy you just have to open it up to see what you are working with. Hope this helps.........

That's what I read on a write up on Sport Rider magazine. Guess I'm going to be in contact with Two Brothers and the guy I bought it from to figure out something. Dammit this pisses me off!!!! I'm sure it won't be to much trouble to replace the baffle but it's an extra cost that I wasn't expecting :(

4th rule of bike club..if it sounds to good to be true it is ... sorry man that sucks : ( ....what u might also want to look in calling other shops around the area that make muffs like D&D ...they might be able fix it for u too instead of shipping it out

If any R6 owners are interested, I might let this go for a better deal that what I got it for. I just don't want to deal with "getting" it to work

But will it work? Or what will I need to get it to work?

As stated above, he stripped it to make it louder. If you drill the rivets out a quick cheap fix that we have done in the past was to repack it with plain old steel wool.
Makes it quiet as a stock muffler. If this was mentioned above I am sorry, have been working 14 hour days this past week and did not read every word.

I think that's exactly what he did and failed to tell me. I don't mind the extra work but I would have liked to have gotten it for cheaper knowing that it was going to need to be done.

i'll get a pic of it tomorrow, but i assume it should work, the only reason i cant use it is because on a gixxer the pipe bolts on instead of "slipping on"

If i can find a new mid pipe that doesnt have bolts i will use it, but i dunno about that happening.

yeah but if you do a full system (slip on and header, header is singular not plural by the way, theres only one :D ) then your gauranteed you are going to have to have your bike remapped, which runs you about 200 bux, jose if you just looking for sound and a little better performance save the money and just fix that pipe. Or just buy a new slip on. Micron, m4, akrapovic, termignoni, yoshimura, and so on they are all good exhaust except for d & d that shit sucks.

I always drill the riv's and take all that shit out. Loud pipe's save lives.

that is the reason why I do not buy used things sight unseen. That sucks Jose I hope you get it handled.
