This is a true statement and also can go as far as the American Airlines Center for the Mavericks. What did it do besides having a Dart Train Stop?
Well if Irving, Dallas, and Arlington does not allow for this stadium, could the Cowboys go out of this area? Like down to San Antonio or even leave the state? I would say that Arlington will pass this over by a landslide because its the Cowboys and not the Rangers...

out of porpotion.... hahahah, more like out of this world. The city will not see any amount of money that can make the headaches of them going to arlington go away. they will also have to update 360 and side streets also for all the traffic. Who wants more construction? i dont even live over there i'm in irving, but construction on 360 will definatly affect us here too. the city will be lucky to see 200,000-300,000 a year in profit from the stadium, but JERRY JONES will see way more then that every week they play and for every even held there he will get HIS cut, but the city's cut will be to small to count in the big picture.

I think its the most rediculous thing I've ever heard to put capital down for a profit-making organization on the backs of taxpayers while promising nothing to those who are going to pay for it.
Not to mention the fact that the average person can barely afford to go to the damned game. Shitty seats will be $80 a ticket I am sure.

They raised taxes to pay for the Ball @ Arlington. City of Arlington even turned around and sold the name to Ameriquest which they made lots of money doing but didnt give anything back to the tax payers. Why would Arlington residents want to get screwed again ?

The Texas Stadium experience:
Tickets in upper level at 40 yard line. $85 a pop at face value.
Parking: $12
Food: $4 for a large coke. $6 for nachos
Fuck Jerry Jones in his asshole, even if I get a "free" ticket to the game from my boss it still costs me $20 minimum by the time the wife whines her way into some nachos and a coke.

You'll see the morons who have no clue how the economy works, as well as the people with hidden interests and agendas, voting yes on this thing.
Anyone who understands economics is going to shoot this thing down for the bullshit it is.
As a person with 8 years of commercial real estate experience, these things are regarding as pure gravy in the world of real estate development. We chuckle when we hear "It's going to pump $80 million dollars into the local economy" or whatever line of bullshit Jerry Jones comes up with.

obviously your location explains how you do not understand how this DOESN"T help the citizens of Arlington
I heard Aikman and Staubach on the radio this morning talking about the 2000 jobs the stadium will bring Arlington and I had to take a double take.
HUH?
Outside of the management, maintenance and security team for the stadium (50 people?), I can't figure out how it could generate anything but a couple of hundred minimum wage jobs that are sporadic at best due to the timing of events.

Me either.
Lets see.... you've got ticket takers, ticket sellers, parking lot attendants, janitors, people working concessions, people walking through the crowd selling concessions, people selling shirts & crap, stadium maintenance people, cleanup crew after the game, and probably some others I can't think of. These are all low paying temporary minimum wage type jobs.
Security will probably make a little more.
That leaves a few management types who will get a manager's salary.
Then there is the team and team staff few of which probably actually live in arlington.
I believe we're still short of 2000 jobs.
Now I guess if you count the perhiperal jobs - the people making hot dog buns and beer; people running the water treatment & sewage plant; people making electricity, and so on - you MIGHT be able to say the stadium will affect 2000 jobs. I can't see how it's going to create 2000 new ones.
I'd love to see how they are coming up with 2000 jobs.

I would support this if it was pay for differently. Looking at page 13 of the ERA report, shows that average attentance is well above 500,000 a year. I am a fan of user fees to pay for this. Add a tax of $34 per ticket for 500,000 people a year is $17 Million, over 20 years is $340 Million. The cost of the stadium. And I didn't have to raise the sales tax, property tax, hotel tax or rental car tax.

And this effects the job situation how? So we'll need 25,000 hotel rooms for one more weekend in Arlington since every hotel is going to be booked. Hilton is not going to build a new hotel just because of that one weekend, you will need increased hotel usage throughout the entire year before anyone would build anything new and create new jobs.
Furthermore, whats to stop a person from staying in Fort Worth or Dallas and then going to Arlington for the game? Right now the same thing happens when they have any kind of game at Texas stadium. People don't exactly flock to the nice clean city of Irving to stay in hotels there do they? Hell no, they are in Dallas. Net effect is that Dallas gets the benefit and Irving takes it in the ass.
I was LMAO on the Arlington website when I saw the horseshit about "Arling police and fire endorse the stadium" Of course they do, they want a shot at the overtime and or hired gun pay they can get for working this thing.

I'm already starting to look to move out of Arlington, my home of 20 years. If this passes I'm going to be looking alot harder. Al is hitting the entire deal on the head.
I'm also curious how much money is being spent on the fliers I'm getting in the mail EVERY DAY saying how fucking great this travisty is going to be for all of us. If its so fucking super then why the fuck is it coming OUT of MY pocket? I don't see and benifits for ME. I see more traffic in my already congested neighborhood at the Ballpark/Hurricane Harbor area. The money spent on the fucking propaganda could be much better spent. This city is starting to look more and more like Dallas to me.

That's the most interesting part of the whole deal...
Irving does a study and comes up with their underwritten number...
Arlington does a study and comes up with their number...
Now, whose number do you think will be more accurate?
It's real easy to make up bullshit numbers. I get paid to sniff out bullshit numbers that people make up for real estate deals. This isn't all that much different.
I'm not opposed to putting the stadium in Arlington or anywhere else, I just think if Jerry wants one he can build it himself. Interest rates are great right now, he could borrow a couple of hundred million for less than 4% and pay interest only on it for the next ten years.

Irving pretty much said that they wouldn't pay for his new stadium, due to the LACK of positive income the city has recieved from the current stadium. So JERRY, decided to find some FOOLS that would...... good riddance.... i will not shed any tears about this if it goes to arlington.
Arlington traffic is refuckingdiculous every day. I work within 1/2 mile of the ball park and it takes me 45 minutes every day to commute 23 miles, about 25-30 minutes of which gets me out of Arlington (less than 5 miles). This is assuming there isn't an accident or heaven forbid a policeman giving someone a ticket.
I've yet to work during a Rangers game or while Six Flags is open but I can only imagine it will get worse. I'm hoping with the new stadium the city will do something about the traffic on 360, Collins and I-30 every day at the same times. Seeing as how the Cowboys only usually play on Sundays though I don't see it mattering much.
I can see some benefits if they would clean up some of the ghettoness on Collins street and on Division where all the homeless shelters are. That and the bums under every overpass on 360, not to mention the hookers all over the place. Move them all to Grand Prairie!

I agree about the numbers being easy to manipulate. I am all about the voters of Arlington deciding the issue. If the majority wants it, I say let them have it.
I personally think it is kind of stupid for Jones to come say how great this stadium will be, yet he is not willing to finance it himself.
