Anyone gonna make the trip next year for this race? I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy my tickets. 3 day pass isn't too much and I think Gay Greg (2 Wheel Tuesday) said you get a paddock pass with that.
It's not that far of a drive is it?

 BLASPHEMY!!!
I do like Hayden, though...and Gibernau. In fact, I was kinda happy to see that Gibernau is only like 12 points outta the top spot. (shhh...don't tell Rossi he's losing his biggest fan. LOL)

I've never been to a motorcycle race but I'm really getting into watching it on TV now. I haven't finished watching this weekends race in Quatar where Rossi had an accident. What was the deal with Rossi and Honda about cleaning the track? Didn't catch all of that but they got penalized or something and moved back further in the starting grid.
Anyway, I might be interested in going depending on work.
Marisa

The Quatar track is in the middle of the desert. Rossi and Biaggi's people hopped the fence to clean off the area of the track where they were going to start. The track found out about it and Biaggi and Rossi had 6 seconds knocked off their qualifying lap which put them in the back of the grid. Rossi made it all the way to 4th or 5th and then wrecked out, Biaggi made it to 9th and finished the race.

So what was the deal with there starting positions? Or did track prep suck?
Marisa

Track prep sucked ~ there was sand on the track (I assume). The starting positions was the penalty for getting caught cleaning off the track. (knocked 6 seconds off their qualifying lap which put them at the back of the pack starting)
I have family in San Francisco, so I think I'm gonna stay with them and drive down to Monterey for the races. All of the hotels around the track are sold out.

So... how hot is it exactly in July in Cali?!
The hubby and I are seriously considering making the trip, but we'd have to camp since all of the nearby hotels are booked.
Are we going to be miserably hot?!

yea it'll be hot but its a dry heat :D
DFWMinis, ScottJ (as soon as I ask him), and I are entertaining the idea of saddling up and riding to Cali.

I don't think we'd be able to get enough time off of work to take the few extra days to ride out. :(

Shoot, the more riders we have the better. It would be the experience of a lifetime. Riding motorcycles half way across the country to watch the MotoGP race. How could would that be?

Back to the subject at hand. I'd really like to go to this race. After watching "Faster" Sunday night and some of the MotoGP races I taped off of Speed over the weekend I really want to go now. Guess I'm going to start searching for an available room somewhere nearby. Don't know about riding down there though

I went to the laguna seca website and did a search on available hotels for July 7 - July 10. Nothing under $200 per night w/ all three nights available.
Priority camping is only $150 for three nights... and it's right on the track. Seems like the best deal IMO.
But, when I talked to the lady on the phone she did recommend a rental car because there isn't really anything in the evenings within walking distance. She mentioned vendors, etc. are open in the afternoon serving food, etc... but, that's about it.

OK, so far I've found a little information on the race. I did find that the race is on July 10'th and tickets go on sale October 25'th. Just trying to figure out the economics of going and time table. Any idea what tickets run? This will be the first real vacation of taken in a while and I want to make the most out of it.

My fellow motorcyclist,
The experience of the open road, knowing the distance and the reward, cries out for our time to saddle up and ride to a MotoGP race. The fullfillment of knowing you have the endurance, the heart, and a sense of adventure are outreaching to our own person. I for one will go, and gladly ride the 2000 miles it will probably take to get there, and enjoy the trip, the destination and the adventure. Lets test our keenness and sense of pride by riding on two wheels to one of the greatest races in the world. Wouldn't it be cool if we pulled up to Laguna Seca, on sport bikes, with Texas plates, looking like we just rode half way across the country.
okay this is stupid.
No seriously, the adventure alone would satisfy my taste for one of the longest rides on sport bikes ever. Its you and your ride. Imagine the endurance and the sense of pride you would get and the experience you share with your comrades on 2 wheels. Dudes, the heart it would take to know that you are about to roll on half way across the country on your bike to see the fastest men in history on motorcycles. I cant imagine coming close to that, other than visiting the space station.
:D
yea, I just love to ride.
