I know its possible, but how? Is there a specific detector for bikes, or will a uniden or other cheaper brand work. would hate to ruin a good V1 if caught in the rain.

i've been toying with putting one of the nicer whistlers on my bike.

i will seal it up with silicone if i do, or heatshrink it.

any idea on where to hook it up at? i imagine the fuse box, but aren't bikes 6 volt and the detectors run 12?

nah, bikes should be 12.

Well the way I see it, use the V1 but if it's threatening to rain put it away. Get the remote display for the V1 so that you can easily see it and put the V1 in a ziplock bag, which should affect performance at all. Oh, make sure you fuse the power wire. I remember EW mentioning that before ;)

how would you be able to hear it over your bike and with a helmet on and stuff?

well, if you REALLY want to know, i could tell you how to use a few relays and make it as loud as you could possibly want.

I know my whistler is pretty obnoxious, so i'm quite sure you can hear it, you just have to listen.

i would get a used detector, personally.

I'm selling my whistler with a full text display, and audio/speach alerts aswell, 50$. you won't find one better for anywhere near that price, it was close to 200 new.

oh yeah, just mount it to the brake fluid reservoir, so it is easily removable.

You can mount it on your windshield, thats how i did mine and it worked perfect! As for if you can hear it? No you cant unless your at slower speeds HOWEVER there is a kit you can buy that puts a little light inside your helmet and when your radar starts to go off it lights up in the corner off your eye! Its a little hard to see during the day but you can change the position to make it move visible.

or you could just use a shift light (or similar bright LED light) with a relayed trigger.

wouldn't cost much at all, depending on how bright you want it.

Go to radar-detector.com They have a set up for bikes. It might depend on what type of lid you use though.

The V1 has an earpiece plug so you could run that into your helmet.
