MP3 player? I used to till a storm last summer killed it. It was the rca lyra 128meg unit. If ya do use one, i'm looking for a small one with larger storage. i strap it to my upper triple tree so size has to be a bit smaller than your usual ipod.

I've tried once but didn't feel comfortable because the music sorta distracted me. Might try again once I get more time behind the tank.

Yeah, it can be distracting. I only put one earphone in so that i can still hear the outside world. But i hope i can find one i like before the big ride. the sounds of exhaust only occupy me for a short time now. lol

I have one..I use to listen to alot while ridding..I found those ear phones that wrap around your ear work best....other ones would just dig in to my ear..I would only have it in one ear...only problem was I would have to turn it up loud and when I would get off the bike...I can no doubt tell I was alittle deaf in that one year...so I stopped it all together now...

don't worry, you can listen to MY exhaust, that way it's a change of scenery.

I used to ride with only one ear phone in, but that throws off your equilibrium, and can actually make it more dangerous, i have some of those ear buds with a volume controll on the cord, also the MP3 player i have is mounted to the far right side of the tripple tree, so i can pause it w/o taking my hand off the handle bar. I gotta have tunes for those highway trips.......and gotta have that Rob Zombie or Pantera for the real agressive riding :D
The one i have was like 70 bucks at circuit city, it comes with 128 built in, and you can buy up to 2 512MB sticks for it that gives you over a GB of music......but then you have too much shit and can't find what you want, i normally keep about 30 songs on it (in addition to the COLD Year of the Spider CD)

I ride with earplugs on the highway(Damn shoei!). To me, music would be too much of a disctration. When I am on the bike....I need to be thinking about only one thing...riding!!

I don't use anything for the daily grind but when I'm doing empty highway miles I use a MP3 player. I bought it from Fry's, its a Creative Labs 256Mb model that just plugs direct into your usb port (USB 2.0). The earbuds were an issue so I bought a set to passive noice cancelling in-ear phones from Radio Shack for ~$15. Then I bought some super noise blocking earplugs and modified them to fit the earphones.. Now I have earplug like noise cancelling with great in-ear MP3 all for ~$120. Dangerous? yes.. sound great? oh yeah!

That's what I'm talking about. But I've never been on a long ride before so I don't know how boring it can get.
Shaithis, you might check out iRiver's SV i700 MP3 Player. It's waterproof!

Yeah, i saw that but its not out yet. :( so i went and got this one. (http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/shop/_templates/item_main_Rio.asp?model=262) I hope this one will hang in there for the long haul. Seems to be pretty rugged and i really like the 1.5gigs of storage. Now i'm almost set for the dublin trip. Radar detector is next. :D
