Friend of mines computer will not boot up. I plugged it into my monitor and it doesn't boot up either. Monitor doesn't power on, I do not even hear it POST up. the Power Supply and CPU fan come on and there MB has a light that came on.

Any ideas what to check? I tried removing the RAM and still nothing and still no POST. Figured if it was a dead HD it would at least POST and say no OS detected. I'm going to try removing all cards, HD, and the CD-RW and see what it does but I thought I'd ask for any other input before I tackle this tonight.

Will it at least give you error beeps if you try and boot without either ram, video, or cpu?

If its not at least giving your errors then the board might be the source of the problems. If possible try his video, ram, and cpu in another board.

Good luck.

I've only tried it without RAM but no beeps. It's also onboard video so I can't remove it. I'll unplug the CD-ROM and HD tonight and try again. There are a couple of other cards there, think a modem and something else that I will remove.

I'm sure you'll figure out. Just be careful not to let the smoke out :)
