I'm here to announce the Probe Community is having its 2nd annual Open Track Event called Middle America Showdown May 10th - 12th, 2002 and we would like to invite everyone to join in this Event.

The event will consist of a Day at a Race track in Hallett, OK http://www.probetalk.com/forums/brad/largehal.jpg ) and a large Car show. For more information please check out Probetalk.com
MAS Forum on Probetalk.com (http://www.probetalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=126)

Every make and model is invited in any state of tune. Info on how to sign up is on that page, along with pricing and where to send the money. This is officially sponsored by Probetalk.com . This will not be a ride along instructional event (officially, but last year we did have our advanced members ride along w/ those that wanted help) and we will be doing a mild safety tech inspection along w/ grouping of cars by speed/skill.

This is the second year of the event and space is limited.

Any questions, please feel free to drop me an email ( nijle4u@hotmail.com ) or just ask in the MAS forum on Probetalk.com

I really hope to see some of you out there so i can have some more mustangs to play with :)

Thanks for your time!

AND PLEASE tell anyone you think may be interested !!

Also some of the common questions i've gotten i'll post up:

Yes you will have a blast if you've not had ANY experience, there will be lots of people to help you learn how to drive the lines and its a chance to run WOT all day and really use your car.

Some of you have asked what mods you would consider musts. Well for fox cars i'd say you should at least run good brake fluid and pads. I highly reccomend brake upgrades (All the mods i had last year was a fresh set of kumos and SVO calipers w/ slotted rotors and i did pretty well). But i would reccomend fresh fluids and nice fresh pads at the least.

Also how safe it is ... well last year we had no accidents, the cars are spaced far enough apart that they dont bunch up. Also, there is no passing except in desginated areas, and only if you are waved by the car in front of you. IMO its as safe as you can get ... if you run off the road there is a lot of room to get stopped untill you hit a bunch of old tires. Which at teh worst will throw nasty water all over your car. Also we have to pay an ambulence to be there the whole time and a full complement of trained courner workers. We also have a mandatory insurance policy we had to buy just in case. SO its pretty safe.

If you guys have any more questions at all dont hesitate to email me. I'd be happy to answer any of them.

This was a BLAST last year, those of you that have road raced before know. You'll be hooked !! Its like a full day of adrenaline rush rather than 12-15 seconds of it like when you drag race. ;) Its VERY addicting!!
