myself, my roomate, a guy that he works with and another guy rode from our hometowns (marshall and liberty city) up u.s. 259 into oklahoma to the talimena scenic drive. the total drive covered over 500 miles. that road is absolutely unbelievable. as you can see from the link, the drive itself stretches 54 miles, from talihena, ok, to mena, ar. the twisties are amazing. back to back to back 20mph curves...long sweepers, 25s, 30s...holy shit. nary a straightaway. we must have seen 300-400 cruisers. it was a blast. there are scenic vistas every few miles to stop and stretch and take in the view. quite a trip. if any of you guys ever get a chance to go up there, take it. it is not a road for you drag-racers, however. but for those of us who like to wear out the outer edges of our tires, this road is pretty great. the lowlight of the day was when a leflore county sheriff's deputy pulled all 4 of us over near the arkansas state line and started making arrangements to impound and arrest, claiming we were "driving reckless". :( but when we got him to realize that we are not those suicidal kids who have no regard for human life, he let us off with warnings. the rest of the day was great. i am a bit sore today but the memories will last forever. talimena would definitely be a good road trip. we are going back in the spring. make a 3 or 4 day trip of it, going up into northern arkansas as well. i was able to take 1 pic, but my camera died. when i get it back to life, i will post the 1 pic and even post a pic of my warning. i think i am gonna frame it.

Sounds kick ass! Post pictures if you've got them. I'm all about rolling through some scenery like that and the curves. I'll have to bookmark that page and review it later ;)

Is it just me or is that ticket dated on the 4th of October? You guys went on the 2nd of October right?

yeah. goes to show how much of a dumbass the deputy is. that alone could get the ticket thrown out, right ?

Cool picture, shame you didn't get more. Is that a ZX-7? Which bike is yours? Maybe one day we will have to do the same trip. How much time did it take you?

that is a zx7r. it is mine. the red one is my roommates ducati 750ss. the blue one is a buell firebolt, and there is another buell on the other side of my ninja. we left here at 7 am saturday and got back at 8 pm. of course we stopped quite a few times for gas and stretching etc. but most of that time was spent burning up the roads. the total mileage was right at 500. i have no idea how far it is from you guys in dfw. but it would be well worth it. don't allow anyone to go who isn't pretty confident on their bike. it is a pretty tough road, but very fun. here are a couple more pics of the zx-7r and the ducati.

i have family out in talihina, so i know the roads you're talking about, and yeah, there are some nice hairpins, and it's pretty damned hilly too!

Sweet! What year is it? When I first got interested in Sport Bikes close to 10-15 years ago, the ZX-7 was the bike I wanted so bad. I'd love to see one up close.

Wow, 13 hour trip. I want to try something like that soon. I'm sure the weather down there is great right now and perfect for riding.
