I don't know if it has been done or not but i was hoping to get 2 ten inch sub boxes, one on each side of the hatch area, molded to the rear wheel well area. I want it so that the subs will be facing 45* towards the center of the car. Anyone know where i could get this done. Thanks.

it's not going to be cheap, FYI.

you're probably looking at a minimum of 1000$, depending on finish.

but if you want, give me a shout, and I can get your box built for ya.

My opinion is that 1000 ain't bad for that sort of design, especially if you have an amp rack built into one or two of them. Just my opinion.

I may PM you later for a little work on my 'stang. Basically I'd like a little amp rack built in my trunk for two dinky amps.

Thanks,
Ceyko

Edited to remove the wrong name from the PM. Wanna PM the guy who builds boxes. :)

What he said. The time (labor) is high on something like that.

yeah if you find someone who does it on their own, they will do it cheaper, as the shop doesn't take half or more of the install price.

however, you have zero recourse if you are unhappy, and the guy is a schmuck.

yeah you do have to think about that. I do stuff like that on the side (built my fiberglass box for 3 tens) but right now i got a lot going on or I would take the job for the extra cash.

Masking Tape, Great Stuff Foam, Plastic wrap, 10 Ply Birch, MDF, sweatshirts, fiberglass, angel hair, bondo, and resin For under 200 you hav the ingredients for a box. I ame one ofr my 99GT convertible and then trimmed it to fit my brother in laws 95 coupe. Each one fit a 12" sub. I ended up going with 4 10's in my vert. If you need help lemme know.

Well i wasn't planning on doing it anytime soon, just wanting to know if anyone has done it. I was looking for something that wouldn't take up as much space as a normal box, but still look nice and custom. Thanks guys

As I tell customers that come to my shop, "50% of the price depends on how you want it to look." If you want it covered in carpet, that is much easier/faster and cheaper. If you want it covered in vinyl $$, or painted $$$$.

no i just want a carpeted box, noting looking fancy, just that holds the subs. I am not looking for a show quality box, just something for my listening enjoyment.

You really need to give Phil a call. He is an installer over at Best Buy and lives right by you.

Best Buy doesn't build custom boxes as far as I know. Not trying to be a dick, but he was asking about custom work.

here's a little synonym for ya. custom molded - expensive.

so you can cover it in cat shit if you want, but it's still not gonna be cheap if its custom formed. to fit some oddball shape.

I mean, he is a custom builder, he works over at Best Buy and is certified, but he builds on the side. Sorry I wasn't clear. Don't go to Best Buy and try to get it made, call him and he will talk to you about it. He can build you a badass box and custom paint it and you will very surprised at the price.

certified to do what?

just means he took that lil test that they require for you to be an installer there. They begged me to get actually certified so I would work in the install bay (worked inventory at best buy for 2 years), but I didn't want my car audio buddies to know I was an installer at best buy. So I never took the test and just helped out our installers when they had issues they couldn't solve (which was often).

i believe what you are referring to is most likely an MECP basic installer cert.

i knew it was some combination of letters like that, they had their cute lil badges on their shirt when they passed that written test.
