I was wondering how many people have manual racks on there car, and drive there car on the street. Does not have to be ever day driven.
it is a little stiff while moving slow, but cruising, you will never miss power steering.

I have the cheap pinto rack and works great for daily driving. I like it better than the power steering. :)

I've got an 18:1 Flaming River manual rack. You can almost palm in in parking lots. There's really nothing to driving with one.

I have the Pinto rack as well and run front runners, its a breeze. I want some 17s for the front, dont care about the stiffness though. Weekend car now.

I been told that if you get the manual rack from O'Reilley's or Auto Zone you need to get the knuckle from Flaming River for it to work. Is this correct?

I have the same one. It's a breeze to drive in cramped quarters.

It's the same no matter what rack you buy. The shaft on the rack is a different size. You can do like forrest and just weld your old one on the new rack, you can buy the ford racing adaptor, or you can buy a flaming river steering shaft.
I ended up buying the flaming river shaft because I got a good deal on it from JD's.I use one of the Autozone racks $100 and a lifetime warranty ;).
