I bought a new powermaster (should be gold plated for the price) alternator and the shaft is for a V-belt rather then serpentine. Do any of you guys have a V-belt alternator pulley and a crank pulley? I think they come on chevy alternators but not sure. The crank pulley...maybe an early ford. Maybe someone can clear that up for me. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

Get an alt pulley from a friendly O'Reilley's.. they usually have a couple around so when someone needs a serp vs v-groove pulley they can change em out quick.

They don't have crank pulleys though do they?

I know I've got some stuff at the house, but I'm a long way from you. If you needed it bad enough to come get it, I'd give it to ya, though.

the shaft isn't different... just take your serp pulley off and put it on the alt.

Yes I have some V belt alt pulleys and a billet crank double groove pulley. The alt pulleys may work sont know about the crank pulley since it is SBC.

It is the same diameter on the bottom of the shaft but it is to short to get the nut on. You can't even get a thread started with this one. On the SN95 alternator the shaft goes all the way through the pulley before the threads start and on this one the threads are inside the pulley. I think I am just going to try and get a machine shop to machine the serp. pulley so I can use it.

Anyone have a lathe (sp) that can do that? Thanks!

They are different in a couple of ways - the offset where the pulley shoulders out is a different height from the threads and the lenght of the shoulder itself (where the pulley sits) it shorter.
The pulley could possibly be made to to work by facing off some of the shoulder on the back side to expose more of the threads.
We'll see later today :D

4 bolt. I am trying to make the serp. one work today but if it does not then I will take what you have. If you have a 3 bolt crank pulley I can probably make it a 4 bolt. :D
Thanks
