View Full Version : Wilson is PROUD of their intakes...

I called Wilson Manifolds up to see what they would charge me to make up a fuel injected super victor intake...
Here's the breakdown:
$310 for the manifold
$650 to convert to fuel injecton (rails, bungs, etc)
$220 for the 90 degree intake elbow
$500 to portmatch... $1575 for full porting
That's $2755 for the full deal....
Is it just me, or is that an INSANE price for an intake?
I could have a custom sheetmetal intake for less than that...

Hehehe...call up Hogan. $2700 is cheap. The one I have was cost close to $3500.

From Wilson? I called Fox Lake and they won't convert a 9.5" super victor to EFI. :(

Tommy tutone to the rescue!
Or get one used for $1000 like I did...
Just remember Andrew, the sheetmetal puts you out of a lot of the little classes because they don't allow them.

Some of it will be from wilson! Some of it will be from FoxLake.

Exactly...
I've been thinking... maybe I won't run the drag radial class anymore. I need to build a new motor, and it wouldn't
cost me any more to build, say, a 422.5 CID motor than it would to build a 360 CID motor from a 9.5" block.
I can't go to many of the FFW races, so I was thinking about trying to run more local stuff, 10.5 or 10.5W stuff.
While we're benchracing, how fast would the following combo go:
400+ CID motor
390 CFM Victor heads
Super Victor intake -> fuel injection
98mm turbocharger
Young's performance in-car 4 core spearco cooler
BIG solid roller
lockup glide
29.5 x 10.5 OR 31 x 10.5W tires
3000-3100#
What about with a ladder bar suspension (skinny kid)?

damn dude, my ported converted Super Victor was $850... rails, elbow intake and porting. it may not be fully ported, it was built for an Outlaw car, but it is ported much more than my heads lol... I don't see there being $1,900 left in porting it...

One of the pontiac guys had wilson port a victor (dunno know how much porting) and convert it to fuel injection some number of years ago and had $1800 in it. Sounds like you are in the ballpark.

have you tried bennett?
anybody know the dimensions of the Wilson elbow? the angle looks sharper than my Coast High elbow and was wondering if maybe the Wilson would be shorter, providing more hood clearance?
A guy mistakenly pm'd me he was looking for moneybags, wondering when he could pick up his dime bag. :D

that's really not bad. Our manifolds for our SB2 stuff are almost $3K and about 1 in 25 are significantly better than all the others. If you ever get to see Cup, Busch and Truck guys testing you'll see more than one car but only 1 manifold and carburetor.

I bought my Super Victor 9.2 from BB&T for a few bucks cheaper than summit (after shipping) and then sent it to another buddy of mine to convert (Jim Mills, www.millsracing.com). He installed the injector bungs, rails, and rail mounts. Then I just bought the elbow from Coast.
My intake has NO Porting done to it, but I came out cheaper than getting it straight from Coast.

I would have to say in the 1/8th 4.75-4.67 @ 154-159mph and in the 1/4 about what Tommy said or a lil quicker.

No way in Hell would it run 4.70's or better. Maybe 4.90's on a perfect pass with a good tail wind. I would guess 5.teens to 5.0's at best. Seriously, the 700+, 33 x 10.5w cars run 4.70's. At WFC, Travis went 4.92 @ 148 and 7.45 @ 191.9 on the 29.5's.
