View Full Version : Bush suspended from flying duty during his tour

I pulled this directly from the yahoo homepage news section.
"(AP) - Addressing questions that have lingered for years, newly unearthed memos state that George W. Bush failed to meet standards of the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war, that he refused a direct order and that his superiors were in a state of turmoil over how to evaluate his performance after he was suspended from flying. One military official "is pushing to sugar coat it," one memo says of a proposed evaluation of Bush"
I have a problem with a President who was to shallow to do his duty but now orders others into such peril to do theirs. This is a mark of true cowardice.

Actually if you read all the papers that were released you'll see that Bush asked to be taken off flight status so he could do some political stuff. He was granted the leave for political reasons.
Also look at the history of the airbase he was at. Bush was trained on a F107 and the base was taking delivery of the new F4 Phantoms. It wasn't worth the Airforces time to train Bush to fly the F4 since he was due to get discharged from the reserves soon.
The problem you should have is with a canidate who lied on how he got his medals. Go see

You ever been in the military? Bush "DISOBEYED" a direct order from a superior officer to take his flight physical so he could do what he wanted be placed in a non-flight status position. That in itself is not service to ones country that is service to ones self. Now he expects other to risk all based off his orders and expect complete compliance. What is with the double standard?

There is a refined difference between allowing someone to tell you what to do and working with them in a consolidated effort and keeping them as loyal allies. Bush has gone to far and burned the bridge. I don't hate Bush I just feel he is unhealthy for Presidential seat.
How can you say Bush has gone too far by 'allegedly' refusing to take a physical, yet when Kerry has 'allegedly' lied about his medals, you stand behind him. Which one is worse, refusing to take a physical or lying to get Purple Hearts?

This is because the swift boat guys are backed by the same persons who trashed John McCain in 2000 when he was running against Bush for the Republican seat. You see they are nothing more than attack dogs and they're weak at best. If they were so concerned with Kerry they would have came after him in the Senate and exposed him with their questionable truths then. Problem is there are vets for and against Kerry that served with him. Who is are the liars? Did you or I serve there? no So how can one speculate.
Actually quite a few of the swiftvets came after Kerry as soon as they came back in the early 70's. What does it matter who provides the money for their ads??? If you say it does then be prepared to go after the dems supporters who have provided much more money and ads to 527's.

I can only go by what I hear, and what is said by both opponents and allies of Kerry. I would be very wary if only 9 pages of a military report are released after it was requested, when the guy is running for President. Much more wary than someone refusing to take a physical because he was about to get discharged. To me it seems the Democrats are trying hard to find dirt on these Swift Boat guys, and not focusing on disproving them. To attack Bush on it just seems dumb, if you know its not true, prove it, and then they'll look dumb.

Lets see -- Protrash thinks :
1. Its bad for a group like the swiftvets to bash Kerry. Even though they have records to back their claim.
2. Its GREAT that moveon.org bashes Bush, and its been PROVEN they have DIRECT TIES to the Democratic Party.
3. Its GREAT that Michael Moore puts out a LIE and claims its a documentary.
4. Its GREAT that The Kerry's have Outsourced over 100,000 jobs to foriegn countries by Hienz Ketchup and then claims Bush is responsible. Hienz Ketchup is a manufacturer!
5. Its GREAT that Kerry LIED to get his purple hearts.
6. Its GREAT that Kerry wants to lead the US Military, even though he believes they DONT NEED BODY ARMOR, They dont need the modern weapons they are using, and they DONT NEED COMBAT PAY. (See how he voted in the senate).
7. Its Great that Kerry Says this week he's for the war, then the next week he's against.
8. Kerry has the "Flipper" theme song devoted to him.
etc...

I talked with a woman who has two sons in Iraq and another who will graduate HS this school year and will enlist soon thereafter. While she does not want her sons to die in any war, she knows Bush is doing the right thing by being in Iraq. She said something that will forever be etched in my mind.
She said "I know if we weren't in Iraq as part of the war on terror, someone else's son would have to be there after the next attack. I say go get them now before that happens."
I was pretty much awed by her courage, insight, and sacrifice for this war.

I have one for you Pro Trash. You have been writing about this so called scandal all day. I have also watched the news. Answer me one question.
How many type writers in 1972 had the ability to type super script? The experts say none!!! The so called memo that stated W directly disobeyed an order for a physcal was typed in 1972. It used super script to refer to the 111th and the 187th group, which was un heard of in this era. It is all starting to look like an internet hoax to me.......

I volunteer to help conduct workshops, to help adults earn their GEDs, I vote, I assist in campaigns, I tell my kids both sides of politics so they may choose for themselves who they feel belongs in the White House. You are small minded, jealous and bitter. Also don't write things under my quote I didn't actually say, it only shows how truly pathetic you are. If you are envious just say so, I understand.

As matter of fact I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and on TDY to Fort Knox Kentucky. Yes I voted by absentee ballot for Clinton, I remember marching myself down on a cold October rain soaked night to drop my ballot in the mail. It was the most memorable vote I ever made. I am a Democrat by 5% and that 5% makes the difference. Dole did not impress me at the time and Clinton had done well by the military aside from the gay issue and Somalia. Our budget had been cut significantly but that was not just Clinton that was coming from Congress as well. So I voted for who I felt the better candidate was.

Keep telling yourself that, for each election has points that they are run off of. Even had the 96 election had more Vietnam issues raised it would not have been as meaningful as it is today. For obvious reasons, we were not at war, we had not seen the likes of an attack like 9-11 since Dec 1941 and Dole didn't push his military record very hard. Had he I may have voted for him, I liked him after the election but he came off during his campaign as numb old man. So what were your thoughts during the 96 election or do you even think?
I thought Bill was a draft dodging pussy that would waste my taxes. I can't believe somebody that was in the Army is on a draft dodgers side. Your Drill Sergeants must have been dumbasses!

I am askig not accusing, this is your time I don't see you rushing off to defend the nation. Then by your terms and requirements you must be a coward as was Bush and Clinton. So are you admitting to being to afraid to go serve or like Chenney do you have more important things to do? I have served so that people like you and I can make these choices. The holes I have lived in were for both of our benefit as are the holes our troops are living in today to protect our freedoms. Maybe you don't know the real cost of democracy and if this is the case you never will. if you knew the real cost of democracy, you wouldnt be voting Kerry. BTW, I've already served this nation.
;) See, like I said, you dont know me. And you know, questioning my patriotism gets really old. How come its always dems that start this crap. Do you want me to question yours?

Nope, I shoot from the hip. Even you must admit Hook em makes it easy for me. He is so intent on getting something on me he's easily frustrated and lacks the basic logical thought process to gather one or two sentences that are not spit at you with foul language and scores of put downs. He travels away from the discussion and tries to make it personal, that is when I laugh and really enjoy this process. To me it isn't personal I thought it was a while back but then realized it is just an outlet. I believe Hook em is in significant need of prozac or something of that nature.

Nor have I stated you are a coward I formed it in a question. Also for your personal knowledge I never back down from anything, you see cowardice is falling to your fears, bravery is setting them aside and acting in their very presence. I am not going to ask about your military service, nor would I even come out first to mention the word coward about anybody in this thread. I didnt open the can of worms, you did. I dont care to question your miltary service unless you run for president and you run on your record. As for me calling you a coward, I simply called it b/c I clearly showed the hypocrisy in your comments about Bush and his service that he never ended up in vietnam, but you still voted for a draft dodger. I called you a coward for failing to admit your hypocrisy behind this. Instead you kept digging your self in a deeper hole. Hey, I'll admit we are all hypocrits, but I and I hope you respect the ones that when they see it call themselves on it.

Or are you going to attack me and completely dodge the issue like you've been doing so far?

Correction soldiers hope their presence deters war, they are not ignorant enough to hope war doesn't occur they would then rely on luck. In todays world, war is not an issue catered to by luck, it is arranged by old men it sheds the blood of young men and women when the old men are to ignorant to come to peaceful resolutions

Then I say they should out the people responsible and see if they violated any campaign laws. The election shouldn't be about mud slinging it should be about character debate. All that is ever seen on this board is Kerry did this or Kerry is that, so I figured what the heck two can play that game. I decided to start posting the same of Bush when it hits the news reels.

Everyone who hates Bush keeps referring to the unemployment "dilemna" as some major issue. I saw a story that reported that the unemployemnt rate was just slightly higher right before the '96 election. I also heard an economist talking about a "households reporting employment" indicator that was a more accurate representation of who was working or not and apparently there are about 1.5 million more households reporting employment than 4 years ago. I just wonder if the "lost jobs" in the private sector is taking into account all the small businesses, farmers, contractors, etc. that seem to be flurishing in the housing market explosion of the last 4 years and that a Bush tax cut would help flourish.
The economist who was talking about this claimed to be non-partisan.
