Kenwood 8017 MP3 player?

Any thoughts on the low end Kenwood MP3 player? Might be getting one for Christmas :D

i like em for the $$$, friend has one in a caddy with a POS amp and a decent box/subs and it sounds pretty good.

Jose, check this out. This is what I'm planning on getting. $399. But if you buy thru a certain period with MSN for $400+ you get a $80 rebate..PLUS you can get a $25 first time rebate.

$399 + (something to put you over $400) - (80+25) = ~$295

Not too bad IMO.

Hmm... The Clarion is pretty nice but I know you are like me and hate rebates if at all possible. You remember the pricing I told you I could get on the Kenwood and it's still cheaper than this Clarion even after all the rebates.

Yeah your hook up is BAD ASS. I still haven't ruled out the any of the Kenwood products. But I started looking more at the eXcelon version instead of the 8017.

I think that Clarion is more on par with the higher model Kenwood but quite a bit cheaper. I'm no audiophile tho...so I really don't know much beyond basic features.

Ya, the eXelon would definetely be better but since I'm not paying for the gift I'm going to go with the cheaper one for now and maybe later get the higher end model when I can afford it. I can always move this one over to my truck when I'm ready to move up :D

There is a rather knowlegeable guy at car toys lewisville that ive been talking too who has played w/ all the menus on the good mp3 decks. I messed around with that top one you posted and I can see where it would posses some mgmt issues. However, if you can squeeze out a tad more coin, the new alpine is SOTA! I wish i could afford one, but, there after the kenny will also kick ass, just plan on learning how to control it like a champ so your not lookin down at your radio too much at 80+ ;)

Ya, the Pioneer has the screensaver which is pretty tight.

I really don't know anything about Blaupunkt. But someone told me their stuff is alright. This one is only $299. If you want to see it in person, I know there is one on the wall at Fry's Electronics. Chris works up there too...maybe he could hook a brutha up proper. ;)
