Those bastards never tell you when they are going to close. I left at 8 this morning to get out to Ennis when gates opened for the Labor day and they had canceled the day. Before I left I checked their website and there is not one mention of it. Today is (most likely) the only chance I was gonna have to race before the season closes and they cancel. This is the 6th time since I've been racing that I've driven all the way out there only to find they decided to close without mentioning it on their site. The only way you can ever find out is if you are there the day before and you hear them announce it. And no I didn't call before I left because no one is ever there that early in the morning. I've called that early other times only to get a recording that says general info, but nothing about cancellations. Then I get there, and they have canceled.

Yea the track sucked, so you didn't miss much. I was spinning past about 400 feet in second and third.

They've been doing that for years. I've towed down there a couple of times in years past on perfectly sunny days just to find the track padlocked.

We and a freind went friday for the labor day deal, I lost my wheel key to switch to slicks and I got there late Around 5:00. When we got there, there were only a couple of trailers and no cars or no one in the staging lanes. We came to the gate and they let us in and we had the track to ourselfs for about 2-3 hours. I ran till I ran outta gas. The track was hookin pretty good too.

Bullshit!!! You might want to pull your head out of your ass and take some advice from people who have been drag racing a very long time. I hear you were running 14 psi cold in those DOT Hoosiers and doing some smokey burnouts! Your not gonnna 60 ft. for shit at 14 psi and greasy fuckin' tires with a stick car making 700 rwhp! Now I understand why everyone was bashing you for not having all the safety equipment you needed! Too much money and not enough god damn sense! Good luck on your highway racing career!

Your dad sure was a lot nicer than you were about the whole thing...

FYI I ran 1.5s in the exact same fucken setup minus the race gas, at the exact same speed in 40 degrees. Your dad even told me the track was slippery from the VHT because there was hardly anyone there to soak the shit into the ground...

I had started @ 14 "hot" in the tires, and 11 hot by the time I left, it didn't matter, it was still spin city. I think my Nittos would have hooked up about the same. :p

When I did light burn outs the tires hooked less...

So you dropped them to 11 psi. Right! I thought your were scared to run anything less than 14 because the car would move around on the top end? From what I heard there were more people there Sunday than Saturday and the track hooked just fine Saturday! So your saying you did actually take some advice then and it just didn't work? I apoligize then if that was the case. Yes, he was very nice since he kept you from getting the boot.

well it rained pretty good this morning so i wouldnt expect them to open gates on time if at all. i would have called and generally if no one is picking up, it seems to mean no one is there to pick up.

Yea, usually when I let the air out that low the car walks. I let 1 psi out every pass, and my 60 foots crept down to the 1.8 range, but still not good. The car was tracking straight all day, just not going anywhere. I need some better tires I guess, and less something down low... I was leaving at 1/2 throttle on the last two passes, and I never floored the last one till I grabbed second. As soon as I did, it spun. Nothing I could do but go along for the ride, something on my car sure wasn't happy. I just remembered I did change my motor mounts since last time, I can't believe the motor being in their stiffer would cause the tires to blow off so much easier. On Nittos on the street it hooks much better after the motor mounts, so i dunno... :(

Yes tell your dad thanks again for letting me run w/o conflict. I only did my two full passes they always let me run, but I could have run more if I didn't leave early to get to work.

I've driven out there only to be turned away at the gate too. I used to think Ennis was the only place to go because it was 1/4 mile... That track is a complete exercise in frustration unless there's a big event there to race at - like Super Chevy or Fun Ford.

Kennedale is by far the most consistent track around here and the best place to go IMHO.

But I need a cage to race there now... :(
