Just curious on what kind of raing do they do. Don't they do it like indext racing or something like that. I'm not for sure and have never been to one of these events. But I plan on going in Oct. to help out the ole Ford boys.
So someone explain this to me.

Its heads up racing with time trials to get qualifying numbers. Ford versus Buick powered cars every line-up.... alot of sandbagging and shit talking... WHOLE LOTTA FUN!!!! you should come...

Yes it is fun! I always enjoy going to the shootouts. The past 2 years it has been colder than a witch's tit though. You should come beat up on a few Buicks. We need all the Fords we can get!

I was looking forward to going to this race for the first time this year since I won't be able to make it to FFW but it turns out it is on the weekend I will be out of town in NYC. :(

you time trail all day, and then they pair you up based on the times that you run. they start the pairing with the fastst cars to the slowest. if there are 40 fords anf 50 buick, the 10 slowest buicks do not get to race or they race each other. last year they did payout for the closest to thier qualifing time, and best reaction time, that was the first year that did that, that i am aware of.
it does not pay to sand bag, at least not for the team anyway. if you sand bag, then a slower car may end up racing a faster one, and then they may loose. so all in all, just run what your car can do. JMHO

Yep, but some people don't understand the Team concept. They'd rather the team lose the event than lose a race.
The more cars the better. Even if you drive a 15 second Mustang, come on out and race for your team!

I'd go, but the car won't make the quarter mile with this VERY loose converter. It'd be done before 1000'. Oh well, one less nine second mustang.

Ok so you go out there Friday and have time trials, then Saturday they pair you up against same number qualifyer from the Buick side. Do you get to race more then your one time on Saturday? Does everyone run one time and they tally up the score?

I am planning on going up on friday to get some practice runs in and hopefully tech for sat because last year sit in tech for 2 hours and they were looking at everything. I know a lot of the buick guys are going up on friday. Did you know if you race a buick and you are out of state you run for FREE, the okl. buick club pays the fee.

So they are real picky about tech? Guess I should get a different helmet and put a cover over the sump of the fuel cell?
