living on a ship in the navy is really trying.
to anyone looking to join the millitary you might want to consider another branch other than the navy.
thats all

Sack up and stick it out. I've done my share of deployments but was wise enough to get out when my enlistment was up. If you really want to fuck yourself, go AWOL. If you're a man, sack up and tough it out.
BTW, out of curiosity, what's your rating? Eventhough I was in a nice rating, I still had to do quite a bit of grunt work since I was on a minimum manned FFG.

Would you have the same attitude if you were on shore duty?
Why on earth do people sign up for something they can't handle? I know sailors who liked doing their time and some who didn't, but the biggest difference was what they made of their time in the service. Washing dishes would make me want to leave whatever place I was in. You already know you're going to be doing 1/2 the time in there on the water, if not more.

The Army has our share of those guys too, some of them even signed up after 9/11 or the Iraq invasion...what did they think they'd be doing BUT deploying? Some say they didn't know what it was really going to be like, but I say, can the outcome go anywhere but UP from the expectations?

We have about a 30% turn-around during people's fist couple months out here...

Hell, even in Navy bootcamp, we had people pulling stunts so they could get out. Others waited until they hit a ship then started crying. No doubt being away from your family sucks major ass, but the only thing that got me through it was focusing on work.
13 months 10 days on a amphib.---- USMC
