There's a hot thread over in the political forum about this. Apparently some believe that miller (dem) is a liar.

I too have been watching the RNC.

The only thing I'm a little anti the Republicans is them making Kerry out to be a war weenie. He has a Silver Star AND Bronze Star...those are medals of valor and courage, just under the Medal of Honor.

The respect shown to the men and women in the armed forces today at the RNC is very refreshing after everybody at the DNC just called them "kids". Yeah, Kerry is gonna get bashed, he's in the race. The respect shown to the current troops means much more to me.

Kerry is the one touting his military record. Vietnam was over three decades ago. What has Kerry done in the last 30 or even 20 years?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Kerry supporter... just the fact he's a decorated Vet and getting shit for that makes me angry.

I suppose I'm bias as my father is 100% disabled after serving there from '67-68, and the gov't just now is beginning to help them out. It's sad.

I haven't seen anyone giving him shit BECAUSE he's a decorated vet. In fact, I've heard many speakers at the RNC praise him for it. What they give him a hard time for is broadcasting it, especially since many of those medals have questionable stories behind them, which he refuses to dispell by releasing medical records. By the way, did you know that Kerry is a decorated veteran?

They were making claims against his Purple Hearts...

That's cause there are claims by others present at the time that he caused his own injuries. Something about shooting something explosive at the shoreline which was too close, and he hurt himself.

the story is that the swiftboat vets say kerry is a liar. kerry applied for all of his own purple hearts (and he did), fab'd stories of valor and recieved 3 purple hearts in 4 months. three purple hearts is a ticket out of the jungle. but, the other vets involved also recieved medals. of course you're gonna keep your mouth shut, you're recieving a purple heart for being included in his account of the ordeal. now, the whole thing involves the swift boat vets coming clean because they are tired of hearing kerry harp on and on about being a 'decorated war vet'.
