I took the test yesterday thinking it would be cake, and failed it about 80% through it... :(
So I read the book last night cover-cover, and got 14/15 right, then the test passed me without having to finish it...
:o
Next month when it isn't hot as hell outside, its time for the MSF. JC, you wanna take it with me so I have someone I know in the class?
At least I have a legal permit now to ride with someone that has a license... I asked the lady at the counter if I could just go to bike night and assume someone there has a license, and she laughed and told me to be careful. :o

Here in MO, with a permit, you can ride all day long. Just not with a passenger. And you can't ride at night!! They don't care if you ride with someone who doesn't have a license!!!

Ya, when I took the test I passed it without having to finish. Tip for people that are going to take it, skip the questions you don't know and continue on. Chances are you'll answer enough of them to pass without having to go back to those that you didn't.
So how did the riding portion of the test go?

You can have mine, I won't be needing it anymore, I memorized the damn thing after flunking it so bad the first day... :o
Jose, I didn't take the riding part, because I KNOW I will take the MSF next month when it cools off, so they said I had till 2008 to take that class and then I would get the real license... I think next month covers 3.5 years from now. ;) I would like to learn whatever anyone can teach me, I don't want to fall and get hurt, or die, so I am taking this on like I was when I was 14 and learned to drive...

Didn't know you could do that LOL! JC, if you are not taking the class soon you should get off early one afternoon and take the test so you can have the permit at the very least.

I know man. I've been paying close attention to this thread. That's what I'm going to do. I need to get that book though.
StrokD- Can you give it to Brian H. today and tell him to bring it to him to work tomorrow?

I took the MSF class. Then I went and got my license. The best way IMO, but if you want your license fast then just go take the riding portion. You have to have someone follow you in a car for the test. I drove my truck when a buddy went to take the test. It was a piece of cake. He took the written and passed it and then the riding and was done without having to take the MSF and pay the price for that. Give me a holler if you have any questions. I have been through all of this and then through it with him. I have seen how easy it is. I still would suggest the MSF class overall. They teach you alot of things that riding on your own you won't get.

That's what I was thinking was the MSF would be valueable even if I could get the license without it...
Greg, you think I should just get the riding portion out of the way anyways, and then take the MSF at a later date? How hard is it? Just make a few turns with blinkers and what not or what?
JC, I have to work till about 9, but if I have time I'll try to cruise to Plano and drop the book off, sure enough!

I had never rode a bike on my own before taking the class. I just knew it was something I have always wanted to do. I took it a little over a year ago and have been riding ever since. They teach you the right way to ride and you don't develop bad habits from already knowing how to ride. The course is more fun when you take it with someone you know. I took it with three other friends. We had a blast. We all still ride together.
BTW I took my bike to the track and ran my fastest time I ever had in anything I have ever owned. Ran a 10.22 @141MPH on my 02 R1. What a thrill running 1/4 mile on a bike.

The riding portion is pretty easy. I went with Chad to take it over in Mesquite/Garland DPS. He had to take off and turn when they honked and then make a few stops and then go back to the office. I think it was a 10 minute journey and that was it. He passed pretty easy.
Depends on what you want to do. You can try it and then see what you think. I know Chris did the same thing. I was already in the MSF class so all I had to do was take the wirtten test and boom I got my license.
