Zell Miller is a puppet for Bush/Cheney. He had an amazing live meltdown on two different networks within 10 minutes after the convention. ON MSNBC, he said he would like to have a gunfight with Chris Matthews. Wolf Blitzer and 2 others challeneged some of his talking points as well. He lost it. That was some of the best TV I've seen in a while!
I wonder if he bothered to research some of those claims he made. For example, Dick Cheney also voted against many of the defense claims Zell made about John Kerry (B-2, F-14, A-12). On at least four occasions, President Bush has referred to the presence of American forces in Iraq as an occupation.
Thank you Zell Miller! You jackass.
GOP, please use Zell Miller every chance you get.

He will never change parties because he knows that being wearing the label Democrat gives him more attention when he votes with the Republicans, which is nearly everytime. If he did not have the distinct "D" next to his name, he would be just another Republican, and have nothing to market himself as.
Great points Slncoupe. However, even though you are correct when you bring up Cheney's voting record, the average voter will allow themselves to be 'dumbed down' into thinking that Kerry single handedly lead an assault against these programs.

Zell is a confused old "asshat" (thanks HookEm). If the B1-B dropped 40% of the bombs in Desert Storm, I'm an ass kissin republican. That piece of shit can't get too far from base. But it looks good!

Zell Miller on John Kerry- 2001
"In his 16 years in the Senate, John Kerry has fought against government waste and worked hard to bring some accountability to Washington. Early in his Senate career in 1986, John signed on to the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Deficit Reduction Bill, and he fought for balanced budgets before it was considered politically correct for Democrats to do so. John has worked to strengthen our military, reform public education, boost the economy and protect the environment.” -- U.S. Senator Zell Miller [Remarks to the Democratic Party of Georgia Jefferson Jackson Dinner 2001]
"My job tonight is an easy one: to present to you one of this nation's authentic heroes, one of this party's best-known and greatest leaders -- and a good friend. He was once a lieutenant governor -- but he didn't stay in that office 16 years, like someone else I know. It just took two years before the people of Massachusetts moved him into the United States Senate in 1984. -- U.S. Senator Zell Miller [Remarks to the Democratic Party of Georgia Jefferson Jackson Dinner 2001]

Hmmm....its funny you say that ben, since I am reading from Zell Miller's book "Conscience of a Conservative Democrat" and he quotes this on page 21:
"I was born a Democrat. It's not simply a party affiliation; its more like a birthmark for me and many of my fellow mountaineers. There's actually a small pinkish spot on the back of my neck just like my father's. Both the birthmark and allegiance to the Democratic Party have been handed down in my family from one generation to the next. Time does not erase it. It is part of our DNA. I would no more think of changing parties than I would think of changing my name. To change would be like walking on my mother's grave."
Doesn't sound like a guy that wants to antagonize people with his D label. Maybe you should read stuff other than Michael Moore and Moveon.org when you try to dispute what he says and blow it off to right wing rhetoric.

I would say that he pretty damn well stomped his mother's grave tonite. Fuck him! He makes a great shit talking repub, but after they've used him up..he's screwed.
You give Michael Moore too much credit.

well, if by stomping on his mother's grave you mean standing up against UN controlled national security, express lanes in our abortion clinics, and indecisiveness by Democrats on key issues this country faces in these crucial times, then yes, I guess you're right. Maybe you should elaborate on exactly what he said that constitutes 'stomping on his mother's grave' as you claim, and stray away from a profanity laced, incoherent rebuttal.

Isn't it interesting that all the liberals here think that all Democrats HAVE to disagree with ALL of Bush's policies?
And fwiw, Zell Miller is, and always has been, a pain in the ass for Democrats. I'm surprised they haven't thrown him out of the party.
And one last thing, ALL politicians speak out of both sides of their mouths... how do you think they get elected? I choose to let their voting record speak instead...

If John Kerry can change his mind on topics why can't Miller? (hypocritical liberals scratch heads)
You guys sure go hostile after a Democrat speaks his mind and it doesn't fall in line with blanket liberal policy!
I wonder if there would have been attacks by the libs if he had chosen Kerry as the best candidate, hmmmmm, I doubt it!

Voting record? Kerry spent less than 1 minute speaking of his voting record during his speech. I guess Kery isn't concerned with voting records. LOL
I love the quote about how 19 weeks tells you what Kerry wants you to know, but 19 years of voting tells you the truth.

The guy is a first class dipshit.
The F-14 is a great aircraft, but it is being phased out in favor of the Super Hornet which is a piece of shit. Why? Just ask who destroyed the tooling for spares.
The problem with using the F-14D as the bridge between the two aircraft is that it is on the edge of extinction. In another inexplicable move, beginning about 1990, the U.S. Navy, per orders of then Secretary of Defense Richard Cheney, planned to phase out of the F-14 program and, apparently to ensure there would be no second thoughts, ordered the destruction of all F-14 tooling. Incredible!
Oops!
The F/A-18, much less the Super Hornet should never have been built.
Cheney’s order of no more F-14 production was a wasteful move that cannot be explained rationally, nor was there ever any reason offered. The effect of the order, however, was to leave a clear path for further acquisition of the F-18A and its desperately needed mission-performance upgrade, the F-18E. The F-18s are good airplanes, but neither version comes close to the payload/range capability of the F-14 or the A-6.

He isn't just a conservative Democrat though. He only calls himself Dem because he was born into a Dem family. Not because he believes Democrat policy, not believe he votes Democrat. He just uses that label for attention.

I don't understand. ben calls out Miller saying he uses it for attention, I disprove it with the text from HIS OWN WORDS, and you respond with the exact same argument. I think you might need to listen to Pro Trash, he is a Democrat, but not some left wing wacko thats going to nod his head everytime John Kerry or Ted Kennedy says something about how bad a job Bush is doing. Also, he votes along party lines most of the time, so don't get too defensive when he throws Kerry under the bus for being an idiot.
Also on another note....Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as a lot of other liberals have been reeeeeeaaaaaallllllyyyyy staying out of the spotlight this election year, and not many have been known for holding back any words when it come to conservatives. I'm thinking she's going to let Kerry get trashed, and she's gonna come get sum in '08 when Guiliani runs.

I listened to the exchange between Chris Matthews and Zel Miller on the Limbaugh program today... Matthews was trying to twist the words and meanings of Miller's speach into something it wasn't... Miller would have no part of it and called Matthews on the carpet for his actions...
The part about the alleged gun battle was something to the effect of " ya know Chris, if this were a different time and place, I might have to challenge you to a duel" or something to that effect... it was deffinately not a "melt down" on the part of Miller, just someone who was not willing to not allow his words to be twisted around and used against him by the liberal media... it was quite entertaining.

retarded liberal children need to shut up.
the democrat mainstream of today differs so vastly from the kennedy/roosevelt democratic party of the mid-20th century so much it is painful. they have drifted left, left and further left to the point that many deomcrats, such as miller and schwartzeneggar will vocally speak out against them. do your research: todays mainstream democrat (read: liberal) is well off the beaten path from our stronger, grassroots democratic leaders of generations part. why? i have no clue.
zell miller does not like left-wing nuts who talk out of their ass, posess no moral fiber, cannot maintain one goddamned belief or point-of-view for more than a year or men who think the world and all of its psychopathic genocidal maniacs will relent if we withdraw all military prescence from wherever it may be. this particular liberal nut is John Kerry. you dont have to be republican to vote for what you stand for: you just have to have a firm stance. i admire anyone who sticks to their guns and votes for what/who they think is right whether or not they are deomcrat or republican.
if this was the other way around, meaning bush was the dullard who prefers pascifism over salvation, i would vote for kerry even tho i am a strong conservative republican concerned with national security. i fear the stupid people who are allowed to vote.
job rates are rising.
the economy is turning around.
terrorists worldwide are being flushed out and captured.
saddam hussien is no longer the leader of iraq, and the people are now free.
has anyone heard jack shit from osama since we think we killed him?
bush has done everything he said he would do, and is still plowing on even tho the 'tards of this country are condemning him. i hate france, i dont live there, and i will be goddamned before i vote for some pussy who wants us to be another UN sheep.
