Gotta love the way Arnold can work a crowd and the presence (sp?) he leaves with them. Here is a snipet of the article on MSNBC.com.

Convention sees the personal side
Laura Bush humanizes president, but Schwarzenegger steals show
MSNBC
Updated: 10:22 a.m. ET Sept. 1, 2004

NEW YORK - The Republican National Convention went up close and personal Tuesday night, hearing the stories of a president agonizing over the awesome consequences of his power and a poor immigrant who conquered the worlds of competitive bodybuilding, show business and politics to become governor of the nation’s largest state.

The women in his life gave delegates and a national audience a glimpse of George W. Bush as a husband and a father, portraying him as a man of “strength and conviction.” But they were upstaged by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who thrilled the convention with his Horatio Alger-like tale and enthusiastically urged Americans to re-elect Bush as the guardian of that heritage of opportunity.

“My fellow Americans, this is an amazing moment for me,” California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told cheering delegates Tuesday night.

Curiously recalling how he heard the words of Richard Nixon in 1968 as “a breath of fresh air” — the first time the disgraced Nixon’s name had been mentioned nearly halfway through the convention — Schwarzenegger said: “My fellow Americans, this is an amazing moment for me. To think that a once-scrawny boy from Austria could grow up to become governor of California and stand in Madison Square Garden to speak on behalf of the president of the United States — that is an immigrant’s dream. It is the American dream.”

“To my fellow immigrants listening tonight, I want you to know how welcome you are in this party,” he said, speaking forcefully to the cheering crowd, as if in exclamation points. “We Republicans admire your ambition. We encourage your dreams. We believe in your future.

“One thing I learned about America is that if you work hard and play by the rules, this country is truly open to you. You can achieve anything.”

‘Don’t be economic girlie men!’
Of course, the proven crowd-pleaser could not resist poking at his own long career as a champion bodybuilder and the star of movies punctuated by explosions, car chases and relentless gunbattles.

“What a greeting!” Schwarzenegger said after a cheering ovation of more than two minutes. “This is like winning an Oscar — as if I would know!”

And Schwarzenegger joked, “To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: Don’t be economic girlie men!” It was a dig at the mini-contretemps that greeted his recent needling of California Democrats.

Schwarzenegger has been cautious until now in promoting the president’s re-election; the two have appeared together in California, but Schwarzenegger has sent mixed signals about campaigning for Bush outside the state.

For the most part Tuesday night, Schwarzenegger stuck to his feel-good story of opportunity, especially for immigrants. But he full-throatedly endorsed Bush’s re-election, and he squarely supported Bush’s most controversial policy choice, the decision to invade Iraq.

“My fellow Americans, make no mistake about it – terrorism is more insidious than communism, because it yearns to destroy not just the individual but the entire international order,” he said. “The president didn’t go into Iraq because the polls told him it was popular.

“As a matter of fact, the polls said just the opposite. But leadership isn’t about polls. It’s about making decisions you think are right and then standing behind those decisions. That’s why America is safer with George W. Bush as president.”

You have to admit he does kick ass, when was the last president we had that was a cow boy.. I love when he does interviews he is all dressed like a human and not all formal.. Family is really important to him and because of him I was able to buy a house that I could have never got with clinton in office.. maybe I should vote for him..

Security and Defence of our country is the most important to me, so that is why Bush is my only option.

Watch the RNC, then make up your mind. Watch Thursday night when W. will reveal his plans, and strategies...

Like 281r said, you are never going to agree 100% with any candidate, but you have to choose the person you think will do the best job.

Yeah,"...oh wait..." is correct! Bin Laden has done been here, and just so we don't have to strain our brains he flat out told us "yes I attacked your country, and I'm going to do it again!" So tell me the logic in focusing on Hussain, turd that he is, because he is "suspected" of being involved. I really don't give a shit if the people of Iraq are liberated or not, and I don't think they ever will be no matter how much of the USA we invest in thier future. "Bin Laden-dead or alive" my ass!

Hussain was as good a place to start as any. I think he was at the very root of the okc bombing to start with. Getting rid of saddam chocked off a large portion of money and training facility. It also chokes off an arms dealer for Bin laden. He was a redily available target. I'm glad we didn't wait till he found an escape route.

Yes, I would equate Hussain with peace any day. When someone makes statements like "I am going to kill Americans" and "Israel is the devil" I know I get warm fuzzies. And his two sons, there are some quality men right there. It is equally vital in the war on terror to squeeze supply lines as it is to kill terrorists.

I still don't see how that trumps "yes, I killed your people, and I'm going to do it again!", but hey, if you think Hussain is a more worthwhile target than Bin Laden then go for it.

Your right, after all who really did show to be more of a threat?

I like how you guys thought Arnold kicked ass. I loved how he said immigrants are given every chance to make it and yadda yadda yadda yet a few weeks ago he denied a law giving immigrants a lis. so they can legally be accounted for and given jobs. Hypocrit much?

I did however like the guy b4 arnold.

California has got to be the worst state to live in..
It costs way to much to live there but there are no jobs..
There is too much smog but at the same time there smog laws are gay..
They tax the hell out of you for everything.. State income property tax toll roads then the normal tax when you buy stuff.. I had to pay 100 dollars to get my mustang smoged and 500 for the DMV and for some reason the feds owed me money in taxes but I still had to pay state.. Power goes out a lot.. they shut down a lot of schools and laid off a bunch of teachers.. They dont keep up with the roads and everything is dirty.. When I found out my morgage payment in Dallas would be less then my 1250 a month 1 bedroom apartment and I could get paid the same here.. I was so out of there.. Texas kicks californais ass really bad california is not cool at all..

I ment the guy that spoke b4 arnold. I'll find out exactly who the law would effect, but either way if it was for illegal immigrants it would have been good way for the census bureau to locate how many Illegals are in cali hogging all the jobs were losing.
