It's a long weekend and I was wondering if anyone wants to get together somewhere and ride and/or hangout. My time is sorta limited but I'll be free Saturday afternoon from 1-2 to about 6pm and Sunday in the morning and late afternoon/evening. Monday pretty much all day until about 5pm when I have to get ready to head to Boston.

I'm pretty much still a novice and want to some group riding with a slow paced group and some BS'ing around talking about riding and stuff in general. Post up!

Let's figure out a day to meet up first. Personally, late Sunday afternoon works for me. Hopefully JC can get some riding gear and tag along or do it someplace close for him to hang out with.

How about we do this. Let's get together late Sunday afternoon (around 6pm or so) and do some riding around Joe Pool Lake. It's close enough to JC that I think he'll go and not feel to uncomfortable about having to ride way out. What do you guys think?

That's fine with me but where do we meet?

There is a Sonic on Great Southwest Parkway just south of I-20 we can meet at. We can do some riding around the lake and 360 south of I-20 has some fairly tame curves and little traffic.

The Sunday Afternoon Ride went well. Got off to a late start at almost 7pm and we only got in an hour and only 30 miles or so but I enjoyed it. Meet up with Adam (OneBadWagon) in his brand new R1 and rode over to JC's (MonsoonX) house for some riding around Joe Pool Lake.

evil jose
09-06-2004, 11:57 AM
Check out how much "trunk" space Adam has on his R1.

evil jose
09-06-2004, 12:01 PM
And pulled over at a gas station for a cold drink and a smoke break for me. We would have rode a little longer but JC only had a tinted shield and that doesn't work to well for night riding LOL!

Shoot me a PM with your name and phone number to so I can easily reach you. Also let me know what part of town you are in. Probably shooting for another GTG on the weekend of the 18'th-19'th.

I'm not certain I'll be making FFW yet or not. To be honest, since I'm not racing I think I'd rather go riding instead on my weekend home :D

What you talking about Willis?? My tank bag is pimp! Plus I've gotta have something to carry my stuff in (wallet, insurance, map, towel, cigarettes, lighter, flashlight, cell phone, digital camera, extra shirt for those hot days, etc.). Your just jealous :p

Mostly on the South Side for now since it's closer for me and JC. Where do you live? PM me your contact info, name, location, and bike and I'll add it on list of riders. Also if you have a route in you area that is good for riding post it up and set a date for us to go riding.

Bitches! I've got a tank bag not fucking saddlebags! Sometimes I like to carry around a dry shirt, bottle water, and some other junk. I don't like to carry my wallet in my pocket or keys either. I'll be damned if I stuff my camera in the storage compartment or keep it in my jacket.

This is what I have. Mine isn't as bulky because I don't stuff the shit out of it. Comes in handy on a day trip to my parents lake house or riding around all day. Plus it's got back pack straps and I can strap my helmet onto the side.

That's it JC! When we do a long trip and you need someone to carry something for you ask someone else!!! :D

eBay, $80. Wait until you start making longer rides into the country (group riding or not) and wish you had a bottle of water with you or a towel to wipe off your sweat (I sweat alot in the leather and helmet when it's real warm and I'm not constantly moving). I don't like to keep a lot of junk in my pockets or in the storage compartment either. I've got a backpack now to for weekend trips if I want to bring a change of clothes, etc. We need to do the small roadtrip out to my parents lake house man! 70+ miles one way.

water? thats what a camelback is for. Those things are badass on rides, and they dont look goofy like your tank has a growth on it. You saw what kind of bike that was on right Jose? Maybe you should save up for a Road Star :p

That's better than a growth on your back? I have no need to get a camelback. I did need something bigger than the storage compartment of my bike. Shesh... I'm glad you guys are so worried about me being fashion concious (although I think wearing a camelback while riding would look stupid).

see, there are tons of sportbike riders who wear backpacks. but there arent many that use tankbags. you can put the resivoir in your backpack and use it like that.

Maybe I'm being different? Maybe you don't get out enough? Maybe I don't like the idea of having something strapped to my back while riding? Maybe I don't like the idea that if I take a spill and have to slide that having a backpack might cause me to tumble? Maybe I like tankbags? Maybe on long trips I like to use the tank bag to rest on? .............................................

So do you have either a bag or backpack or do they get in the way for you?

i have a backpack, but try to stuff as much shit as i can in my back seat. The only time I ever wore my backpack was when I was bringing my paintball gun to get worked on.

I just never got into tank bags just because I cant tuck in if i want to, and thats half the fun of having a sportbike
