it seems that there is a protective coating on my wheels wheels lip and its tarnished

is there any product that makes a provective coating it seems to be some sort of clear coat

try scuffing it up a bit with shit uhh some number sand paper... it feels about like a newspaper but it scuffs it really fine then just use like mothers polish or some polish...

OMG hell why not just take a sand blaster to it. I agree though some very fine sandpaper if the clearcoat looks tarnished or some 00 steel wool in one spot to test out to see if this clears it up. then cme back with some kind of compound/polish.

you can use red scotchbrite, 1500 or 2000 grit wet sandpaper. then you have the choice of repainting it, clearcoating it, or polshing it, but beware after you scuff it up it will take hours to get it back to looking nice. you can use a buffer also white wool or foam only, yellow wool is for rubbing compound, white is for polishing compound. pm me if you want more info.

but i think ill go with the clear coat instead, but i have to strip the old clear coat off first so it will look even

I am curious too, my 01 cobra wheels have some oxidation, and I didnt know what would get it out. Doesnt never dull scratch the clear, just want to make sure before I mess up the wheels anymore.

ok, that is a chrome polishing kit, hoes does that help polished aluminum with a clear coat. A harsh abrasive will mess up the clear.
