take them off and wet sand them with 1500 grit wet sand paper... buff out using rubbing compound.

Just put new ones on. But I hear that buffing compound works great.
You can skip the 1500 and use a rough compound like the old 3m that you use on lacquer.

Yep. I just used some 3M rubbing compound and a foam pad and mine look brand new.

Yeah 3m and foam pad should be all you need, wet sand them if they are bad

If you are going to wet sand plastic use micro-mesh. Its really fine grit sandpaper thats used to get plastic and lexan crystal clear. Hard to find but it comes in 3000, 4500, 6000, and 12000 grit. Use it in steps starting out with 3000 and by the time you are done it will look brand new. We did it to my buddies gt headlights and they were pretty nice. You wont even need to follow up with a compound and you wont have to worry about fine scratches.
I used 1500 and then a bench buffer with white and blue compound. Came out great. 3000+ would probably be better since it is making finer scratches.

yeah, by the time you get to wet sanding with 12000, you cant even see scratches, its crystal clear.

wet sanding will take imperfections out of any plastic... you just have to start low enough to go deep enough, then work to the finer grit slowly to take all the scratches out. so yeah, it will work on tailight lenses, lexan, etc....
