Xbox & HDTV ???

anyone have their xbox runnign in HD?

i got a used xbox... (i plan on modding soon :D) anyways.. I also got the M$ HD AV pack... but it is not working on my TV, my TV is new but I have never actually hooked anything up to HD...

anyways... When the xbox is hooked up to the componet video it works fine. When I switch it over to the HD Componet it gets no signal.. i can tell my tv to search for a signal but i get a quick scrambled screen.. then it goes back to no signal.

on xbox.com it says to setup HD.. go to settings, video, set 480p to yes, after setting it to yes on the first controller hold the two triggers and click the left and right thubsticks. the screen will go balck and then switch to 480p mode.. mine never goes black???

any ideas??

if it matters, I have halo and it will actually work in 480p, but the dashboard does not?? wtf is the point of useing HD if you cannot see the dashboard???

thats what I have it set to :) but the dashboard will not display (neither will DVD's ??) :(

then you have something with your tv screwed up... what tv do you have... have you checed the setting on the tv...???

the dashboard should come up in any mode...

on my dads hd tv at his house for some reason the color for the componet wires was wrong from the color for the back of the tv (ex blue had to go into green and green had to go into blue) i have my xbox hooked up to a sony hd tv and it works fine just pluged in

im a retard... I figured this out.. I needed to update the dashboard... im still upset that DVD's dont play in HD though :(

now.. onto get a modchip and get this thing modded... more to come :)

dvd's are not recorded in hd... and xbox is too cheap to have an upscaler... what ever that is in there....

DVDs are recorded in 480p, not HD. Progressive scan is about all you're going to get out of any DVD player. HD scalers usually cost about 3X what an X-Box costs by itself

basically what I meant by the do not work in HD... is that witht he xbox hooked up under my HD input, when I play a DVD the signal is gone.. so if I want to use the xbox as a DVD player replacement I have to hook it up through the composite inputs and not the HD... which sucks :(

unless its hacked you can't play dvd's with out the special dongle microsuck sales either....


that may be your problem... cause it will play them with the advace av pack with 5.1 digital...

did you try the softmod on your xbox....

Something isn't right, there is no reason why it shouldn't play on the HD input. Try playing with the different output resolutions in various configurations and see if one of them work. I know Tony Hawk:Underground has issues if the settings are off at all. It is in "HD" and plays nicely once everything is set properly. Goodluck.

no softmod yet.. I need to get the 4920 dashboard installed... I have everything needed... I even have an article that tells how to image the drive so you can put in a bigger drive with the softmod... if the softmod doesnt work as I want it too I will get a mod chip :)

yeah i bought it because i wanted to remote.. I wanted the xbox to replace my dvd player

dunno what to tell ya... keep tying different settings... there is no reason it shouldn't work...
