The Doom 3 post in the back porch, got me thinking.
What is eveyone's rig like?
Spec wise, I would like to see if I'll be able to play doom 3 also.

Windows XP Service Pack1
1.53 GHz AMD XP ( 1800+ )
256MB of pc2100 DDR

Hercules 3D Prophet 4000XT 32MB AGp
40GB Drive 7200RPM

My computer sucks, but I rarely play games. I'll need to upgrade when Doom 3 comes out :(

Most of the shit I do is just remote work via ssh and browse the web/check email.

my rig
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
2.2 ghz stock clock
512 PC2700 (333mhz)
160 gb 8mb cache 7200rpm
BFGtech FX5900XT OC

I run farcry at 1024*768 with settings turn on to HIGH. except for water.
I think water's at Very high or something. cant remember.

and why are you going to be disappointed with your radeon 9000?
I know a lot of people who have them, but they don't play grapic intensive games.

because a radeon 8500 is the minimum specs for Doom3. I think i will be investing in an FX5900.

good choice..although I think for the price you could find a 9800pro or "possibly" an XT

both are good cards. but I consider myself more of a Nvidia find..better drivers and such.

I will stick with nvidia on a linux system.... the ATI linux drivers are lacking.. on a windows machine I will go ATI all the way
