Today I went to the dyno.. and then the track

First I want to give a big "thanks" to Truestreet5.8 and "scubasteve for all of their help today without them I wouldn't have been able to do so much in one day...

On to the good stuff..We made several pulls on the dyno with the dyno room temperature measuring 108*!!! First Pass netted 560ish rwhp with my current tuneup that I have been running all along - it has been a best of 6.36@109 with it and using ~16 lbs. boost...
With a slight turn of the boost controller it made 588 rwhp and 63x rwtq.. not to bad.. with this setup it runs 6.20's and a best of 6.19@112
... one more twitch of the boost controller and 688rwhp/671rwtq was made.. but it leaned out quite a bit..I added some base fuel pressure and even added some through the computer.. it made a minimal difference (it should have made a HUGE difference with as much as I put into it- This leads me to believe that the single Aeromotive pump is now done)
I go to the track and make several passes with the "normal" settings producing the "normal" times...
I then turned it up on the last two passes - resulting in....
6.13@115.11 w/1.48 60ft and a 6.15@114.41 w1.46 60ft..
... it is odd that it made over 100 rwhp more than it did when it went 6.19 but yet it only ran a 6.13... which confirms my supsicion of the fuel pump falling a little short.. the even more wierd part is.. the car feels like it is picking up in the top of the track like the fuel pump is "catching up" :confused: Oh well.. I have a few things that need to be addressed and I will take it back.. with some decent weather and new slicks it should get to the 5's :D

it seemed to pop and bang for about 300 ft.. I watched it pretty close on the last pass.. and damn that thing is PHAT. Nice work.

no boost for the first 300 ft aint getting me no where. If i let off the throttle I lose the boost, I need to just hold it and quit being a bitch. Is denton open tonight? They hook well?

Brooks...congrats on the new times! You and the Silver SS would be a good race! Whenever we added the fogger, we only picked up a tenth or so, and a few mph.....even though we probably added 74-100 hp. Guess thats the return you get when you are going so fast already! :)

Thanks man.. Hard to believe that 100 hp only did that much..but the 330's were identical from a 6.4 pass to this 6.1 pass.. and it did do some wierd shit on the dyno.. I will go ahead and install the additional fuel pump to see if it helps.. I have to do everything possible to help it live.. (at least till FFW)

Brooks...how much boost are you coming out with??? Your 60's look really slow for that ET and MPH. Are you coming out on a two-step? Are you retarding the timing also when you are on the two-step?

Yeah it comes out with about 9-11 psi. On the last pass I turned the two step up 300 rpm and it didn't help (usually it makes a huge difference) The two step is usually at 3500 rpm or so.. I have tried to retard the timing numerous times.. it ALWAYS slows the car down..

The a/f ration on the old tune was about 12.5:1 - a little leaner than I like it...Then on the higher boost (19.8 psi) it was about 13:1 A LOT leaner than I like.. I added fuel through the regulator and through the computer - only to get a small gain..I noticed that my EGT's were in a "liveable" range so I just left it alone for now.. It does need the second fuel pump installed...badly.

.. the gas is 112 octane (whatever they sell at the track). The a/f ration was consistant across the board, it almost looked like it was drawn with a straight edge. :eek:

anyone can come up to the line and get some pics or vids.. it will most likely be a few weeks before I can get back to the track - I need new tires, install the second fuel pump,change the oil etc... maybe some dyno time to get the tuneup back.. since it will definately be jacked after I put the new pump on...
