Gotta love this. I recieved my converter back today and the packaging was all torn up and the converter was damaged. Here's a pic of the box: The hole is the same size as the snout of the converter which goes into the end of the crank.

They're on eastern time so they were already closed when I got it.
I'm not sure what I should do about it. I could have it welded back up and then file it down to match, or I could have it sent back. Who knows. I'm not sure how critical balance is for the converter.

I dont think thats to bad but with the hole in the box I would make sure the snout is still strait. Oh thats one reason that Jegs uses Fedxe and you get the crap 2 days sooner.

Look, if you paid $1030 to have your converter fixed and it came back like that you'd be upset too.
when you ship it 2000 miles

Andrew, to cover your a$$, go ahead and make a claim with UPS on it. That way, they can't come back and give you crap. Then, stick that b!tch in and run it. :)

That sucks dude, I'd be pretty pissed. But, as long as it isn't all bent up, I would think it would be fine to run.
Just put a cheap converter in the box and beat it up a little, then make a claim with ups. :D j/k

Hey man you can claim it with UPS and then they will come and take a look at you guys agree on how much damage you think it is then, they will give it back you can put it in and run it, and they usually send you a check later.

Ups.
I've had quite a few shipments shredded up and delivered by UPS just like that. Some of them even had stuff falling out of the holes in the box as the delivery man was carrying it to my door. I hate to ship anything UPS anymore

Balancing on the converter is criticial as engine rotate assembly...sent it back.

Hey--think of it as weight savings! Now you'll go even faster. j/k Actually I would send it back myself (make a claim or whatever). It probably isn't enough of a problem but with the way my luck goes on this stuff--I'd end up blowing my motor to hell. I turn enough rpm that if everything isn't dead on--the motor is dead pretty quickly. I broke my previous crankshaft in 4 places and destroyed my aluminum block because I had a little bitty imbalance issue--but at 9800rpm it turned into a big flexing, bending, torsional mess. Oh yeah--it was really expensive too.

Ups.
For some reason that movie Pet Dective comes to mind. When Jim Carey is kicking the box down the street marked "fragile" and throwing it all over the place. Maybe he does work part time for UPS.........might want to ask them. :)

It's, "got a package people!!"
I talked to Hobart, he rebuilds your lock-up converter inhouse. (Red Oak)
He also bought a converter shop and is moving it to Midlothian.
