Is jl audio all what its cracked up to be???
One of my lil bros friends just got a sys put in with 4 DVC JL 12's on over 1000w and when he turned it up for me I was like,,,,,thats it??? He got mad! This thing should be tearing some shit up because its in a hatchback and to me, it seems like its only on the high 130's.(DBL)
I hit a 137.5 with 1 Old s15 solobaric on 700w!
The speakers look good and he has good power and he said the box was built to jl's specs but ither jl really sucks or he has a major flaw in his combo.

Speakers are only one part of the system. What kind of deck, line driver, amps, box, etc did he have?

JL's are good, my single 10w6 did 130 in my 93 hatch.

I had 2 JL 10's in a downfiring box with a crossfire amp. They out bumped the hell out of alot of 12's

Its gotta be the box.
He had his brother build it with some specs from jl.
This box really is a POS!

ya, it is prolly the box, and a shitty amp. That is what usually does it.

JL rocks.....I had 3 10 W3's in my truck powered buy a PPI amp.....I had the ohm load to about 2.3 something so in turn I had about 1000 watts going to the 3 subs and I hit 156 DB in my truck....something is probably wrong with your friends system....he must have a weak link somewhere

holy shit, if you want to put just one sub in your car find someplace with a 10w7. these things place high 140's - low 150's by themselves. At a competition I went to, JL was showing off a 10w7 and everybody was like, "what the hell is it doing behind a plexiglass barrier?!", until we saw the box blow apart from the pressure at 1200w! You only need on of these things to blow all the windows out (and a few cars over if you want)

JL rocks!!!! trying to find someplace that deals out the w7's, well lets just say that is a pretty hard sub to find. W6's do great though

I concur, when I get my suv again, the 10w7 will find its home there...thats a sick piece of technology, destined to make me buy earplulgs while im gettin paid in the escalade:p
