My dad used to race at the Green Valley Raceway back in the day. We were up in Keller Monday for a cousin's baseball game, and he said that he used to race not too far from there. After the game, we went down to the old racetrack, out on the place where the staging area used to be, and looked down at where the track used to be. It's all torn up now, but me and my buddy went out there tonight after leaving Moe's in Lewisville, then cruising past the Sonic on Northwest Highway, and went a quarter mile or so down the beat up, dirt path that used to be the track. It was pretty damn cool when you think about all the fast cars that used to race there back in the day. Fuck those bastards that bitched about the "noise" and shut them down.

they use it as a parking lot for all the work equipment for the road work they are doing in that area, my parents live right by there.

It's sad, isn't it? My dad talks about all the good times he had down there and then they up and closed it.

I grew up out there, every weekend, my dad use to fallow the Div. 4 Bracket points and that was his hosting track, they were the badasses of div. 4 back then like K-dale is now and days.

I was there the last night, and have the old Greenvally street sign from the corner, and Bill let my dad have the Greenvally plaque tile that was in the center of the winners circle in front of the tower.

I never seen so many grown men cry then that night, everyone walked on the track after the last two cars ran down the track, and people were busting the track up with sledge hammers and taking peices home. I think all the racing stoped arround 1am but noone really left for several hours.

Damn, I cant belive I remebr all that, I was only like 8-9 year old.

Actually Redline is the badasses of division 4 brackets. We beat all 6 division 4 teams last year in the bracket finals in Shreveport,Lousianna. We will be defending our title as Division 4 Renegade champions in San antonio this year.
My dad raced at Greenvalley i think before i was born, not for sure though.I am 26 years old and i dont remember ever going.I know i would hear stories about it and still do. :)

I raced the last weekend they were open; it was quite sad seeing the track finally close down. I spent many a weekend out there racing, and won "king of the valley" once. Also went to one of the HNRA events, and got to see jet cars run on occasion. My wife and I were in the area about a year ago and took some pictures of what was left and I posted those up at that time.

There were also some people that weekend handing out flyers for the "new" 1/4 mile track that was under construction somewhere down around ennis.... :)

My dad used to race a motorcycle down there, my uncle did too. He even had a pinto he used to bracket race. In fact my dads whole family raced there. I was very young at the time but I remember that he won a bracket race and I remember going in a old wooden building getting his trophy. I still have the trophy too. It sits right next to all my Bracket trophies I have one. Hell I dont think I was even in school yet. It was like 1983 or 84 I guess, I was 4 then. I remember holding that trophy like I was some body though. :D

I remeber going out there with my dad growing up. He had an A fueled flip top Anglia..injected nitro non supercharged, sorta like a funny car, but little smaller. I was young also, 4-5 yrs old, but i remember it very vividly. That place had history and memories that can never be duplicated, it's a sad thing that it was shut down.

I hope you dont race in the brackets out at redline, cause I would find it hard to belive that you dont know RedLine is IHRA sanctioned, and yes they did win there div in IHRA, K-Dale is NHRA and won the there div. If you go to the brackets, and see the sticker that says "3 straight Killer Bees", thats cause the last 3 year k-dale has won there div.

I've seen the old pit bridge you refer to. It's in the background of one of my dad's pictures. We've only got two pictures hanging on any wall in the whole damn house, and they're pictures of his '69 Camaro at Green Valley. In the other one, he's burning out and you can see some of the woods in the background where I think there are houses now.

I never said that we are nhra or ihra.I said we were the division 4 champions.I am glad to hear you have won 3 straight but this was only our second year to be there and we are first to win in only our second year.Everyone knows that redline has the toughest competition around and they have the biggest payouts too.

How are you comparing the two then, they are two completly diffrent sanctions, that would be like saying the Texas Long Horns are the best football team in texas, even though there are two pro teams here.

And RedLine is made up of 80% of Ennis' old Bracket racers since they screwed that shit up over there.

Also before everything gets thrown arround about who is better then who, a majority that run at Red Line friday night, run K-Dale sat., and Denton sun.

Hell, even I run all three when I can get off work friday night.

Im just 26, like I said, I grew up out there. By the time I was 5 I knew more about drag racing then most these kids do today, I knew the diff. between the pro and sportsman tree, what courtisy staging is, what was grounds to be over turned in the first to worst rule, ect.... now and days its all second nature.

now that I bring that up I still hear grown men refur to the pro tree as the 4 thenths tree, and the sportsman tree as the 5 tenths tree. and you can run 4 and 5 tenths on either format. I guess its all the internet racers we have today, LOL.

I know alot of the guys and girls there and alot of them come from out from out of state or they come from other tracks.I dont know anyone who came from ennis, they are usually kennedale or denton. Some of the guys that are regulars started going to other tracks like denton because they say its easy as hell.I did give kennedale its credit for winning alot.I just think redlines competition is tougher.I would like to see the two tracks run together though.I have probably seen you or you have seen me.I am in alittle blue s10 blazer with a orange and green flamed front end.I run i street mostly but have the occasional mod race. The last two weeks i have won one and runnered up the other.Just got my balzer running properly.

quite a few ennis racers run redneck friday nights. mclains, easley, a number of the jr racers are into dragsters now, but they ran everywhere.

quite a few tough 1/8 mile tracks around dallas/ft worth area. i have raced all of them. i still think k-dale is the toughest. those boys and girls set up on kill every time.

run k-dale or denton brackets. past two years i have been a track whore. ill race where i want when i want. sick of chasing points at one track all year long, it became a job. from 1994-2002 every points race the plex had, i was there. well almost all of them.

oh by the way, a evil witherspoon beat me today... sorta. dang 496 red

Well, as long as we are telling stories about the Valley, I won a couple of trophies out there as well. Also have some pics of Gene Snow, Shirley Muldowney, Bob Glidden, etc. from several big meets I attended there.
I "may" have even raced my wife's Dad out there when she was just a kid. :)

I think if the track was there before the houses don't move there you if you don't like the situation.

It's a property tax and quality of life issue the way the city leaders see it. A nice subdivision brings a lot more to a city than a drag strip does. So, the drag strip loses this battle each time it happens. I've also been hearing the rumor that k-dale is on the slippery slope of being run out of business by nearby development.
