View Full Version : What does it take for a car to beat a stock hayabusa?

STANGGT40

this guy, at work, has a hayabusa, that i assume is 3-4 years old...it's red, if that tells you anything. anyway, he was bragging about how he can beat pretty much anything on the road....i was just curious what it would take, for a car, to keep up with/beat him, and in what conditions. i would assume that, from a roll, he would have an advantage, but i think that those things run in the high 9's, in the 1/4, from the factory...right? so, from a roll or from a punch, which is the best way, and what's it going to take?

oh yeah, he keeps talking about his blown big block road runner, and i think that i have that one covered (if it actually exists)...i'm just curious of what it would take for the bike. i really don't know much, at all, about those things!

Boy you would need a lot to beat one of those Red Roosters. If you are trying to beat him you probably would have to race from a roll way past triple digits....thats where bike guys get a little nervous.

I've raced a few bikes and the way to win is up top.

Go from a stop. Majority of cars will take bikes out of the whole unless they're lowered and have an extended swingarm. This will make the bike play catch-up a little. But, you will have to go high up into triple digits to get ahead. Busa's can hit around 200 mph STOCK. Find a car that can hook on the street, run in the 9's in the 1/4, and go high into triple digit speeds.

I'm not scared to top mine out. I've done it numerous times while racing whether it be a car or another bike.:D

Hell run him in the 1/8! makes i even harder for him to get it rolling!

Its too bad some fool has to buy a bike built by someone else to be able to beat a car anyway!

Sounds like a puss to me!

before I put the turbos on my car I was running 7.5's in the 1/8 regurlarly.. I got my ass drug by my friends TL1000 from a dead stop.. You can't race a bike from a stop unless your car is on the track.. especially if you have decent enough power to keep up in the first place.. Your best bet would be rolling...

at the track it would be a different story... majority of the street prepp'd bikes can't 60ft. worth a damn.. I'd be more than happy to run a stock 'busa at the track :D

Some of u are saying to go from a rolling but theres no way. I have a 03 ninja 636 and a supercharged coupe and if i can get a car to go from a rolling then im almost a automatic win unless that car is something crazy fast. Your best bet is to go from a dead stop and hope to god you hook up and only go for an 1/8 mile or so, otherwise he'll fly right by you at the end. Also keep in mind though that most people with sportbikes dont know how to drag race very well. Its alot harder to get a good launch than most people think.

A stock Hyabusa can run anywhere from 6.5 @ 115 - 6.0 @ 120mph in the 1/8, depending on the rider. You would need atleast ~700rwhp in a car setup really good be able to consistantly beat a Busa. My stock Zx12 went a 6.1 @ 119 in the 1/8....you don't find many cars that run 120 in the 1/8 :)

And to whoever said riding a bike is the puss way out.....try it for yourself. Drag racing a motorcycle has got to be one of the hardest sports out there...people just don't realize the skill you need!

FWIW....When I was messing with my air-shifter, there was several runs where I would just launch, and then miss 2nd...and coast the rest of the way. Just running the 60', and letting it coast..I would run 6.9's @ 80 :) Et is all in the first 330 feet!

All you need to beat a stock 'Busa from a roll is a MKIV Supra with a big single or HKS twins. Anyone remeber the "Walser" 'Busa video from a few years ago?

You talking about a race bike and a rider that is used to dragging his bike. Who knows if this perticular guy can ride a bike from a dead stop or even shift worth a crap. We all know the bike is fast as hell but he still has to ride it.

Im talking about my stock Zx12 with bolt-ons, and someone that was LEARNING to drag :) You take a stupid driver, and you can make ANYTHING slow...cars or bikes.

I mean, do you really want to brag about winning against something, only because the driver was tottaly incompitent, or because your car was actually faster??? :)

I've never been beat by a 'Busa at the track, and I've probably raced 5-10 of them. Now I'm not saying that a good driver couldn't row right past me, but I have yet to have one pass me. Most of the ones I have raced have run in the 6.60-6.30 range.
I guess I just haven't gone up against a decent driver. That 6.1 @ 119 in the ZX-12 by Marsh must have been a helluva ride....Pretty damn good driving too.
What are "average" times for a ZX-12 assuming an average rider?

I don't know if you guys are talking about the hyabusa 1300 or not, but I've raced one from a 40 punch. My 150-shot, cam, 4.10's, 6-speed to his stock 1300. I saw about 15 carlengths in between me and the busa at 169 mph
That was a scary ass race. I sprayed third, fourth, and fifth. I will never do that again.

you better do your homework...the road runner's aren't slow even stock....most of them had 383's 335hp stock....the 440 was 390hp, and was under rated due to insurance purposes....A blown 440 built right can produce an EASY 650hp.....if it has a blown HEMI you better hang it up now....cause you won't be able to beat a blown hemi....This is what you need to outrun the bike, a 74' dodge Dart with a 672ci procharged HEMI....
