Ok while I'm franticly searching to find the answer I thought I would try here too.

So one of my boxes has 2 HD's. With the following partions /boot, swap, /, and /var that are all type fd. Well /dev/hda failed and only makes cool clicking spinning sounds. So what do I need to do to get the raid back up again. I've popped in another HD made the same sized partitions on the new drive. Do I need to physically move the new drive to be /dev/hdc and move the good drive to /dev/hda? I read somthing about raidhotadd but wasnt sure if thats just for raid5 or works with raid1 because everything I found with raidhotadd was about raid5.

Can I change the good drive to non RAID partitions somehow and just run temporarily until I can get the RAID thing figured out?

might want to try posting this on linuxquestions.org or searching that site. Lots of good information there.
