I think this might belong in the Computer and Gaming Center(and if so, Mods please move, Sorry). Somebody school me on this. Is this kinda like Kazaa? I have been reading about BT and have seem some files that I am interested in but my concerns or about viruses and trojans and "bad" files or those scratchy files that you get off of Kazaa. I use WinMX alot for music but I need somewhere to get movies. Let the schooling begin........ :p

I use winmx for music and mIRC for movies and other such things. Sometimes I'll use limewire too.

BitTorrent is excellent. As with any P2P, you have the chance of getting infected, however most of the things I've ever seen on suprnova.org, or torrentbits.org are legit files (maybe not acurate to the description, but at least virus/spyware free).
BitTorrent is not good for the random song you just heard and want to download... at best you might find the entire album that that song is on. Kazaa, WinMX, Edonkey, things like that are still better for single music files. BitTorrent is great for movies, apps, etc (all things you legitimately own, of course ... just for backup purposes)
A trend I've been noticing a lot lately, is people posting up new movies ... only to find out they're in spanish, and not subtitled. We've essentially come to the conclusion that it's how people are getting around the copyright laws of the US, by ripping spanish (as in Spain) versions of the movie, and distributing them ... though I'm sure that's a violation of Spanish copyright laws (but is Spain as actively pursuing copyright offenders?)

I use ftps. :)
go to a website such as suprnova.org or torrentreactor and download the torrent. The torrent is just a small file that tells the locations of the seeds (ip addresses that have what you want to download)
Load the torrent in a torrent application (i'm using azureus) and let it download... the more you upload the more you download. After downloading the file let it seed for a few days for others to download off of you.
