Hrm...that's strange. I just called Janine's tube rental and the Guadalupe is open now and forecasted to be open this weekend and I am calling back Friday to be sure. They are letting out water before the weekend.

now that the lake level is 916.21, the corp of engineers will maintain the flow of the river. Meaning they will release water this week. When it gets below 909 feet, then the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority, controls the flow.

They left it alone last weekend for the 4th, because they knew it would be a busy weekend. Lake levels are dangerous right now, and they will be releasing, especially since there will be rain coming in the next week or so.

Currently it is flowing 450cfs, which is safe toobing.

Once they release, it is bound to flow over 800 cfs, which is a BIG CAUTION

100-500 is recreational flowing, least dangerous.
500-800 is challenging flowing, physically challenging
800-1200 is aggressive flowing, and they usally don't want you toobing - most places won't rent you tubes.
1200-1300 is Extreme flowing, and there is absolutely no toobing

so plan to float the Comal this weekend. It's the only option, i'm damn near willing to bet money on it.

If we can actually float the Guadalupe, we are floating out of where we're camping. It makes entirely more sense that everyone can stow food/drinks/extra clothes/blow up dolls in the camper, so it's right at hand when we get out of the river, than to all get in cars, and drive to a different location. I don't care about the rest of you, but I'm taking care of the people who are staying with us.

Michelle: I had already kinda planned out a Saturday night menu (gotta go to Sam's and pick up a few tons of food) So I was just going to suggest everyone donate $3-$5 a head. I'm not pushing this issue, if some people feel like they should pay more or less, maybe a little light in the pockets, or they don't want to eat at all and just hang out, it's up to the individual person. If you have any food preferences, bring it! I'm sure I can get creative with just about anything.

As of now we have a very full crew. I have said yes to everyone who has asked to stay with me and I'm not about start to change my tune now. I would just like to let all of you know we have a FULL house. Most of us in the camper "swing a stick" if you get my drift. Good call on that one...I just spoke w/ Whitewater Sports, Jerry's Rentals, AND Rio Raft Co. - ALL said that the river is CURRENTLY closed and will MOST LIKELY remain so THROUGH the coming weekend. Only thing to do is check back tomorrow/Fri. INCASE they have decreased the water outlet from Canyon lake, but w/ ensuing weather conditions AND this NOT being a holiday weekend it's highly unlikely. I've never floated the comal but am not opposed to it - just am needing some clarification on what the arrangements will be if such is the case.

**Tubing is my priority - count my trio in for day/night trips on whichever river we float!!!

Haha, done! I even shaved with shaving cream...I never do that! And Im all lotioned up in Vanilla Lace and my hair is fixed all pretty. Too bad Im in shorts and a tshirt and flip flops lol.

I've been busy all day.. Went to take a nap and Fred called to see what I was doing so I had to get moving again..

He got new sandals, and some shorts, and I got a FABULOUS new pair of water shoes. :cool: With a C on them of course. hehe
