I'm trying to make myself a good system. So this Legacy stuff I see on E-bay, cheaper than everything else, is it cheap for a reason?

Okay...there was some Pyramid stuff, too, that was reasonalby priced, relative to all the other quality stuff. Is it crap as well?

So, what do you recommend for a budget? All I want is an amp and two fairly loud subs.
Crunch stuff is really cheap and halfway decent. Pretty much all of the big name manufacturers offer a cheaper level product as well.
You can go to the flea market and see what brands they all have and basically don't buy any of it. Rockwood, Kenford, Alphine, MA Audio and I consider Audiobahn stuff crap.
This amp (http://search.ebay.com/kicker-zr360_W0QQcatrefZC6QQfromZR10QQsamotorscategorymap Z6000QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZbs) is a bad bitch! It really makes about 750 watts into a 2 ohm mono load when bridged.
For subs I'm not sure what kind of budget you are dealing with or what kind of car. Stick with brands like Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, Diamond Audio, MTX and Alpine and you should be okay. I personally like Diamond stuff but it might be out of your price range.

I'm trying to spend less than $200, if at all possible.

that will be hard... when you say system, what all do you already have and what do you need??
Unless you know some crackheads that will steal the stuff for you then it's not gonna be likely.
You might consider going with an amplified Bazooka tube, I know Circuit City keeps having the 8" version on sale for under $100. Two of those will be plenty loud for most people! I ran one in my old Denali and was very happy with it's performance.
you get what you pay for....and do it right the first time it will save so much time, trouble and money.

All I really want is an amp and a pair of subs to put underneath the bed of my El Camino. There's a little compartment behind the seats that goes nearly halfway back underneath the bed, and that's pretty much all the space I'd have.
