I'd say aerobics, interval training and weights will help you. Plus a well balanced diet which it sounds like you have. You will have to improvise on what you can do with your ankle. Doesn't sound like you can get on a treadmill but maybe you could do an elliptical trainer or a stationary bike. Weight training will give you a higher muscle mass that will increase your metabolic rate and it also increases nervous signals to the abdominal fat stores to release and use fat. You can do a lot of leg workouts with one leg or two and let your stronger leg carry the one with the bad ankle. FitnessRX Magazine this month(July 2004) has a lot of good articles on abs this month. You might wanna pick it up. Hope this helps a little.

You may be eating relatively healthy, but you have no idea exactly how much. Write down everything you stick in your mouth for a week, and then you'll know where you are starting from. If it has calories (even a stick of gum) log it, even a well-balanced diet can keep you from losing weight if you eat too much.

I added up everything over the last 2 days and i'm at about 1400 to 1600 calories a day.
