hey guys, i have 2-12" Infinity Subs, both are 1200w a piece, 300rms, and 4ohms. so i was wondering would it be easier to run 2 amps or just one? also, what amp do you suggest that will make these bitched thump hard? thanks for any feedback!
Obviously it's easier to run one amp. As for recommendations thats hard to say, seeing as how you can only show the amp a 2 ohm load. Also having no idea what your budget is. I can tell you that the hottest amps in competition this week are Atomics but they are a little hard to get ahold of. Currently I'm using a Kicker ZR360, it was cheap and puts out lots of power (more than my Diamond Audio D5 1200.1). I'd recommend it any day of the week, especially with a 2 ohm load. I hit 149.5db on an Audio Control meter using it on a 2 ohm load with 2 12" speakers.
Memphis makes good amps for spl, also look at the old Orion stuff, non Best Buy Rockford, Cadence A7, and even MA makes a good sub amp. Pretty much any manufacturer makes something that will work.

the memphis 500d would be one hell of an amp for those subs.
small footprint, underrated, stays cool, very tough to beat.

Atomic's are the shit but its about 1 month wait on any apx and 1500.1 amps.If intrested BP I know someone thats selling his 1500.1's cheap.Time to upgrade hommie.BTW Atomic S-10 aint Atomic any more.Id grab them if I wasnt working on a sponsership from someone else. Also know someone selling memphis 1000d's for $250 a pop.Conections:D For this thread its really hard to tell you what amp to buy without knowing your price range.I know tweeter is selling a last years kicker 400.1 for around $250.$250 is about the least your going to spend for street bump for those or most two 12's IMO.Lots of good amps in that price range just shop around.

i'd bet those 1000d's are refurbished. memphis used to have a refurbished amp deal, where the 1000d's were 100$.
you cant beat that amp for 100$, a buddy of mine used to buy the shit out of them, and resell them. but no warranty.
Look for a 600W RMS amp that will run 2 ohm mono.
JL Audio 500/1 Class D will run cool
Alpine MRV-D501M Class D will run cool
JL Audio e1800 Class AB will run warm/hot
many others on the market

i thought you already had subs
a good amp with 500+watts rms, is probably gonna cost you between 400/600 for a good amp that does what it claims.

Well Adam how much money do you owe me on that bet. They were bought brand new from memphis on a sponcership deal and where modified with a 10 gauge jumper cable and the protection circuit bypassed to take 16 volts and some change. They have about two seasons on them.

Hell it aint no secret I cant spellll. To tell you the truth I dont recall which circuit was taken out if it was thermal protection or something else. Not to fimilar with the old style studio 1000d's but i talked to him earlier and has a total of 5 1000's and a couple of spare cases laying around. He went back to using as he won 01 and maybe 02 world finals with crossfire is the reason for selling.Pm me adam if you want the amps and his number.I wonder if MTX with give me a few 1501's if for EP pricing.BTW got the wagon back and thats going to be my spl car.
