Wow what a great course!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys have no idea what you're missing. Here's a few pics I was able to get that you can see. (Thanks Matt!).
Was good to meet ya Mike and see John, Bob, and Matt. Met some coold F body guys. Yes they exist. One very cool follower of the General in particular is pictured below. I'll let Mike expound on the ride as he's the one in the passenger seat.
Glad you all came out. Hope everyone made it home ok. New-ish tires go on tomorrow for me!!! :)
Oh yeah Mike, found the cd we were looking for. IT WAS IN THE CDROM OF MY LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big thanks to Darren, Matt, Bob and John. i orginally went just to watch and learn but they talked me into it :D i was really surprised on how much fun and knowledge was to be had there. i went using my street tires and learned alot about the limits of my car.
About my ride in Darren's (Acid Pete's) car. HOLY SHIT!!
 he had that car moving!! on the big sweeping turns he was drifting around the corners like a pro. by far the best ride i've ever had in a car. if he posts up the vid you can probably tell where the camera stops looking at the road for a while, hehe.
Matts car sound bad ass!!! that is truly the best mod motor i've ever heard.
Everyone there helped me out to get everything ready and to teach me the noobie stuff. There were some really impressive drivers out there and i learned alot. Thanks Darren and Bob for the seat belt trick. It really helped out in remaining stabilized in the car.
All in all the most legal fun i've had in a long time!!

I will post some videos here in about an hour.....on my 4th run, the car was so sideways I was pointing at the corner workers in the middle of the hairpins!!!! Never spun though which was amazing.....when you see the videos, you will understand. :D
all in all a fun day but I am going to have to find a better way to get even MORE negative camber. I corded two hoosiers yesterday on the front. I think I can swapy them inside/outside and leave them on the rears for now but it looks like the MM full front end is in my future or just a lot of grinding to get the negative camber into the -4.50 to -5 degree range. I don't dare run more air at this point but might need to.
Darren, sorry about some of the pics, your camera would not zoom any further and damnit, you were moving too fast on some of the action shots....I had to lead you so much with the camera that you weren't even showing in the viewfinder yet when I tried to hit the shutter button. I might bring my Canon rebel out next time and we can scan the 35mm shots afterward. I have a 300mm lense on it so I can zoom pretty good.
going to eat lunch and I will start ripping video again.

Ok, here are two links to vids....one was the class Z Top Time Of Day for the mornig runs which we were still cleaning the course off and the other was a greasy tire, over powered fun run.....say high to the corner workers in the last hairpin turn!!
Johntheaggie, I still can't believe you got into the 98's!! You must be taking every advantage you can with that 5.0 torque and you MUST be taking a hell of a good line. I might need to ride with you so I can start learning how to drive!!! My setup and power I think is what is keeping me in the hunt just ahead of you mongrals...
Right click and save as.......and turn up the volume!!!

Mike, glad you could come out and be coerced into making a run. Sucks that your car was acting up but if you get that taken care of, I think you have the bug to make this a regular hobby......or addiction as it may be for some of us! :D
Thanks for the comments on the car....it has been a labor of love that still apparently isn't finished. :( Plenty more parts to buy and tires to ruin!!
As for riding in Darren's car.....you might have to take a ride with me next time......the guy in the focus that I gave a ride to in the afternoon was wide eyed and grinning ear to ear when he got out. My best time was the afternoon session with him in the car!!! Got down to a 96.1 but the tires got really hot and my times started slipping after that. I really wanted a 95 second run but I think TTOD ended up as a 94.7 in our class. Dean Yamada is a Great driver and is driving a car that is well sorted out. I know it is for sale too which is tempting but it's a camaro... the way I look at it is if he sells it, then he can go get his LT4 Vette and leave us even further in the dust.....:p
Well, glad eveyone had fun and I hope more folks come out and learn that turning corners can be a lot of fun. Darren and I will continue to draw more folks into this addiction of fun!

No worries Matt. The pics I have are fine. I appreciate you getting what you did. Definitely bring out the big gun next time around though! Also, I can't believe the times you're getting with one hand. As bad as that is I have to give you kudos. That's cool. Nice runs!!
Glad we all had a good time. Unfortunately I won't make next month's event as I have family duties to attend to. I guess I'm out of the points race, if I was ever in it. ;) Have fun. Glad to see you guys and meet Mike. Was a blast as usual. Unfortunately I won't be able to digitize my runs as I don't have the hardware necessary.

No, I went out into the garage and found that it was too hot to work on the car and gave up. I did have to clearance some plastic on the fire wall but was not too big of a deal. I might also have to make a few modifications to it once I work on my camber issue.
Darren, did you download the 4slidn.mpg video I posted. It was insane how easily the car was coming around. At the previous event, there was so little traction on the front wheels that the rear was glued. Now it is like dancing in the rain again......Guess I need to go to the 275/40 hoosiers that are about 1.5 inches wider. I am hoping that kumho gets their shit straight on the new 710's as that will help lower my tire bill drastically. It's that or go back to street tires.....and that isn't likely to happen. Mineral wells is just too damn hard on tires with all the paving joints and "pot holes".

I know it is a VERY bad habit as far as Racing is concerned but it is just my regular comfortable driving position. I need to find a way to cure myself of it as instructors will ride my ass for it. The reason it works so well for me though is I can steer the car much quicker and smoother this way instead of shuffling hands across the wheel all day. I will speak with one of the instructors in June to see what he might suggest to cure me of this bad habit.
the other problem I am finding is the car is now faster than the driver is able to think ahead for the next turn. When the car was slow (stock), my driving experience was a good match with the car. Now the car is MUCH faster and much more wild which things change and snap and move SO much faster. I really need to work on curing myself of bad habits and speed up my reactions and thoughts. I might need to just drive the car more during the week...?

We try and post every event here in the Racing forum. Just be looking out for the word AUTOCROSS and MINERAL WELLS. Or go to the BMW Club Calendar of Events (http://www.lscbmwcca.org/events.html) website to see the schedule.
You don't have to just watch. Just come up to one of the stangers and introduce yourself as a DFWStangs.Net member. If you've signed the waiver and have a helmet you can get a ride. It's a freak'n blast even as a passenger!!!

Wow guys. Sounds like we missed the fireworks. Just read from the LSC BWM CCA (BMW Club) chat group on Yahoo that some guy's radiator neck blow off and showered "The Well" with anti freeze. I've asked the guy to email pics. If he does I'll throw them in here. Anyone know if Bob made it back ok??? Tell ya what. 65PMH from the well is a long ass drive!
