I'm looking for a set of tires that I can drive to the track, race and drive home. I've been looking at the M/T 28x11.5 or 27x10.5 ET Street or some Hoosier Quick Time Pro 27x10.5 or 27x11.5. Anyone have experience with these tires and fitment on 15x8 (5.5bs) Weld Draglites in a fox body? If so, how well/bad did they work for you?

ET Streets hook like a MF! Even in the 17s!

Hot Rod tested the new M/T drag radials.........they liked them!
Be warned.................they will not last long on the street!

I had a set of 26x10.5 ET Streets and they wouldn't hook worth a damn (460rwhp/540rwtq at the time) with a 5-speed.

It's always nice when you get pleasant and helpful response on DFWStangs.

Yea it sounds like you need 28's.

Dont use an 11.5 QTP on a 8" rim. It will fit, but it will not work as good as a 10.5. I have the 27X11.5's on a 8.5" rim and wish i would have gotten the 10.5's. The tires bow out a lot and the contact patch is not very big cause if this.

I dont think you can go wrong with either brand. I got the same 60's with both. The hoosier seem to run a little wider than the e.t's.

I'd go with some 28's tall though. Greg

I will say IMO the QTPs are stickier both street and strip. I ran the 28x11.5s on an 8 inch rim and got a 1.45 60 at Denton at 40 degrees out. The et streets do not come close. I have to run the 28x11.5 ET streets for TTT5 and they are good but not good enough.

I did pput them on a 10" rim. In your case I would use the 10.5 tires GRAYHORSE is correct about that.

26s suck the longer the fot print actually helps more than wider.

Get the 27x10.5 Wilderness AT's. They like heat.

You don't understand shit! My car is on jackstands due to a total rebuild, not because of any other reason.

It isn't the speed that matters you need to go into second gear take the tires up to say 45-55 mph keep the speed consistent as soon as the mph starts to drop let out and your your ready to go. I have ran as fast as 11.1 on motor and 7.1 in th 1/8th on 26x11.5s in the past on ill prepared race tracks with rice burners in front of me. Also I am unsure as to your setup suspension wise but the tire work with your suspension not in leiu of it. The more power your putting down the more wieght transfer you need. Example being 70/30 or my choice 90/10 drag struts, 50/50 rear shocks, lift bars, etc. If any of this helps good luck.

DO NOT get 28x11.5 ET Streets. They're nearly exactly the same size as a 28x9 ET Drag slick.

IMO, go with the QTPs. Or trailer the thing to the track. 6.4s is getting into serious "break stuff" range at the track. You can still roll the DOTs when you want to have fun on the street, but nothing you can drive on the street will compare with a dedicated racing tire.

Well I understand now, then I guess the key for you is to get the car to start coming down on it's own in first then let out. You have to feel those tires start to pull down before you leave the burnout box if you wanna get the most out of DOT approved type cheaters. Every car and driver had their own preference if ET's didn't work for you I suggest trying something different for confidence reasons alone.
