can't delete "new folder" on desktop

it says it is being used by another user or program and it cannot be deleted. I opened it and it is empty, I'm guessing that can't be good. Any ideas? I'm fairly certain I didn't put it there and I'm the only user on this pc.

did you restart and then try to delete it?

make a bootable floppy;)
boot off the floppy and CD into the desktop folder.. you will find the fold you created in there.. delete it and reboot..
kinda ghetto. but it works..

the above works.. you can also try booting into safe mode... you should be able to delete it then.

I will try that but my concern is that there is a bigger problem, I mean what would cause this?
