click on start
click on run
type in cmd
click ok
type in format c:
press enter
when it asks press Y.
give it a few minutes and your disk will be completely defragmented.

you don't need to be in safe mode to defrag.

ahh. i'm sure there is some reason you might want to, but it's windows, it'll prolly crash either way.

the reason is becaus eit is a running program ....its harder on the system to defrag running programs ......

when you start in safe mode you are only running the programs totally ness.. for the pc to work ..

you CAN run a defrag without putting your pc in safe mode ..it will not hurt it ...
it just does a better de-frag in safe mode .....

you need to do the defrag at least once every week or two to help keep your pc running smooth

Yes, when you do defrag, dont run anything. I can't tell a difference in defragin in safe or not. I guess my 10k rpm drive keeps it up with teh speed :P

if you are running NTFS partition you should only have to defrag if you are moving or adding and deleting LARGE files or groups of files...

I would not defrag an NTFS partition very often... maybe once every 6 months or so... unless you create and delete lots of little files and move them here then over there.. delete and recreate them.. etc...

for normal everyday use.. its not really needed on an ntfs drive.
