Anybody here ever upgraded a laptop?

I'm not talking just ram but the whole shabang. I have an old NEC laptop that's WAY outdated and I'm thinking about taking on a tough project. Just seeing if anyone here has any experience with this sort of thing.

you usually can only upgrade ram and hard drive on a laptop. To upgrade cpu/video you need a whole new board which usually runs way more than you want to spend. If you want more horsepower you'll have to just buy a new one.

yep, what he said. You would be better off just buying a new one.

That's what I've been told lately. I just want the challenge, although trying to squeeze in a new mother board and all that doesn't sound to pleasing.

The problem will be a new motherboard most likely will not have the same layout and go into the same case
