What's the difference?
I just purchased an orbital buffer from Sears but read in another thread that ya'll don't suggest them. Why not? My poor car has only been waxed once and I'd like to clean it up really good before FFW and need some tips.
TIA!

the orbital is ok for putting on and taking off wax but not for actual swirl removal, you need more RPM for that. Personally I wouldnt use it for wax either, I prefer to use micro fiber towels.

Well than what should I get? Remember, I'm no pro at this so I need something that a 5 yr old could use. ;)

this is my opinion of course but you only need a buffer if the paint looks really bad. On a silver car swirls dont show as much so you may be ok. I prefer to do things by hand.
I would:
Wash w/ Dawn
Clay Bar
Wash with actual car wash
Apply whatever wax or polish. (I prefer Zaino)
Get some kind of quick detailer or gloss enhancer to finsh up with
That should bring the shine out and take out any minor imperfections.

also I use 100% cotton applicators and micro fiber towels
