What have you guys used to restore your black trim on your stang? Mines pretty bad. Also what are you guys using on the plastic ground effects to get oxidation out?

Don't use tire shine or armor all on your black plastic trim. It will just dry it up and turn it white. You're going to laugh, but peanut butter works wonders.

I haven't been home in quite awhile. I go to Oklahoma State. Not sure when I'll be back yet. But to answer your question. I have a pretty nice 1993 GT convertible. Vibrant red, black top, black leather. What do you drive? I live near morriss and college.


I've heard peanut butter works, haven't tried it yet. Glad to hear you didn't tell me to use Mothers Back to Black (crappy doesn't last 2 days). Has anyone used Forever Black? Its a premante dye system that last for a long time supposedly. It comes with a cleaner then you dye it. Then your supposed to use something like 303 protectant to keep it from fading. Might try it.

Don't think I've seen your car.... since your at school most the time, that's why. You may have seen mine but, it looks different since I just made a bunch of changes. It was a red 87 GT with the original turbines.... I just recently converted to 4-wheel Cobra brakes and 98 Cobra wheels (BIG IMPROVEMENT). There's a pic of it if you look at the "homestangs" pages.

Thanks alot...... I had it painted a year and a half ago the original color. I love the wheels...... I decided when that style came out in 95 on the "R" that I wanted them. Just took me this long to get around to doing it the right way....... didn't want the 4-lug version.

Can't say that I'd recommend them but the price was right.

The shop was "New Image" in Arlington, they primarily do imports but, I got a hookup from my neighbor...... pd $1200 and they swapped out my hatch and a door that was damaged by vandalism......price wise, real good deal for the results.

Overall the result was real good but, I put alot of hours in myself. I removed all the lights, emblems, moldings, the interior, etc to make it easier on them. When I got it back it had overspray all over everything. I clayed and buffed the entire car and did alot of detail work to get it where I was happy with it. But, hey for $1200, it was well worth it.

I'm ready for car show season to start so I can show it off a little. I'm taking it to the Mustang 40th Anniversary in Nashville next mont... should be real cool.

I use Zaino Bro's show car polish and it works awesome. I use it on all black metal (wiper arms) and also the trim around the windows as well as the mirrors. I have had no problems wit hthe product and never have to use any kind of shine products. It costs about $13 a bottle but will last you for at least 2 years.
