Full Exhaust, Gears, gt40ish intake, should be a good race :)

How often do you drive the car?
Everyday? Get 3.73's.
Just the weekends? Get 4.10's.

Not all LT1's are slower ;) ... For some you might need a full bottle of naws in addition to motor mods.

I wouldnt waist my time with 3.73's unless you plan on putting a power adder on it. I have some 4.30's i'll sell you. If you fear the 4.30's for some reason, then go 4.10's all the way!!

junior

why would i fear 4.30's i dont know much about gears,
i drive my car everyday, its my daily driver

i drive my car daily and have 4.30s in it...

with 4.30s, full exhaust, weight reductions, and other little bolt ons.. lt1s are a peice of cake.

then with the 125 shot ls1s are peices of cake.

I know the feeling (from the oppostie point of view though lol). Seriously though, get some gears, a good intake/cam and a shot of the giggle gas and you should get the LT1's, the LS1's on the other hand...........

for intake im trying to get a explorer intake is that good, and what exhaust should i get,
what other bolts on actually help and what cam should i get a crazy cam or a e=cam

Uh o, if you got the auto then add either a T5 swap to the list or a heavy duty AOD plus a decent converter to boot. As far as intakes I would only use the explorer lower withw GT40 or cobra upper. The explorer upper is trash. The cam will depend on what conveter you get.

I for one dont have that big a mouth when it comes to my LS1 since I can admit that I have been drug by a honda and a AWD VR4 (they were fast I swear). But I can say the last LT1 I ran had a blower, ported heads and intake along with a lingenfelter cam and all the other crap and he only got my automatic LS1 by half a car on the highway, er I mean dragstrip at around 130-140mph, yes it was a LOOOOONG dragstrip and we both took off from a 35-40 punch. BTW all I have done is a lid, exhaust (homemade catback) and a S1.

so should i just get the lower explorer, does that make a big or small difference and why is the upper not good?????

The lower explorer only works with explorer, GT40's or cobra uppers. The stock explorer upper is that, stock and isnt worth it in my opinion. I would either get a GT40 complete or look fro someone selling just the upper and get a explorer lower. For your application a cobra would be so bad either if you could find one cheaper. The explorer uppers were made for tourqe and no top end.

im also in the market for explorer heads they are the gt40's right

the reason you lost was the primer on the car. It creates ungodly drag and costs you .4 seconds in the 1/8th mile.....:D

Yup it is a ported throttle body by mark shaner off ls1.com. I knew him when he first started doing them and now he does them full time. Awsome work

Against an LT1 I've won some and lost some...I've only beatn' one LS1 but it was because he missed a shift...

this is an AOD coupe with 3.73's

these races were only at the track;) street racing is bad Um' Kay...

Start slow and easy, go from there with your mods...

for a car that will see none to very little track use(slicks) I would go with 3.73(with a 5spd you might even see better mpg)

After the gears are installed work down this list

14-16 degrees of timming, 92 oct gas
good cold air/airfilter kit
pullies
off road h-pipe/x-pipe
headers
cat back
fuel pressure regulater/gage

at this point you will have about 1k in parts on your car, and you can expect your track times to drop by about 1-1.5 seconds and pick up about 8-10 mph, you might not beat all the z-28's you come up against but you will give them a good run for the ones you dont beat.

With mods like these I took a 88 lx 5.0 with 150k miles that ran stock 14.9@92mph to 13.7@101mph(on very sh*tty 225 series tires, a good set of BFG's would have put it about 13.4@103 or so)

If you have some questions about this and want to talk email me with your phone # and I will try to give you a hand avatardt@yahoo.com

a 5spd fox 5.0 will beat a 93-97 fbody, if they are both stock. thats my opinion, then again it would be so close that it would come down the the driver.
